They call them developers.

I don't understand what you're trying to say.

I think what is meant is that it's not a forum member's responsibility to remain true to the mission statement, but it is the responsibility of the developers.

A "complaints" sub forum is a good idea actually

No it's not.  It sounds so pussified.  I rarely darkened this forum at one time because the polyanna atmosphere that you want was even worse.  It was fanboyism.  I read a thread where a guy said he was moving on to another DAW because he didn't like the GUI. It was the only negative thing he said.  Talk about getting torched.  I even read a phrase in another forum "he got beat down Sonar style".  Thus was the reputation back then.  There is a difference between trolling and complaining.  DO you expect the staff view people to shut up?

You haven't read enough forums.  Reason ditched theirs, complaints exist on Reasontalk. Live users complain that too many updates are towards Push.  I do believe comments on KVR about Tracktion 7 are moderated. EastWest will ban you.

Complaints are often suggestions.  It's not a rocket science to weed through what you want to read. Most people read through the complaints  in hopes to get satisfaction by helping that other person.

I would consider torching someone for a reasonable comment to be very "negative" as well.  Sounds like we don't agree in general on this issue though.

I still don't understand why only the developers need to follow the forum's mission statement. As I said, this forum is about how to get the most out of SONAR - the mission statement shown on the Home page is "Discussion focused on the use of SONAR software." I think it is a forum member's responsibility to be true to the forum's intended purpose.

This forum is supposed to be about how to get the most out of SONAR. For it to be wonderful, all that's needed is for people to remain true to the mission statement.

... seems like the mission statement tends to self destruct in short order, anymore.

Folks are drawn here when things go wrong, so they're already p*****d off and negativity is kinda baked in.

Negative posts are also informative. Between the derision and levity, some real gems of insight get posted by those with the knowledge.

Most of my right click/saved threads are negative ones.

Preference
Please don't tell me how I'm supposed to process my emotions JUST FOR YOU regarding my use of the SONAR Forum .

Absolute Fact
My personal upbringing was nothing remotely like any of the  TV shows of my youth .
Shows like Leave it to Beaver , Father Knows Best or any other Pollyanna  drivel along the lines of
"Gee Wally Lets paint the world to be what we want it to be as opposed to what it really is"  is not a tool in my tool box .

Fact
I have absolutely no problem with a person choosing that for themselves as their mode of coping with the world and their style of communicating . I'm willing to let you be you as you are . In return you have to be willing to let me be me as I am .

Fact
I do not need your approval nor your validation  .

Preference based on setting healthy boundarys
Please don't try to slam that special brand of BS you've been selling for years down my throat because I'm not buying it   ...

Fact
when I saw the opening post before any one had posted in it many hours ago ,  I had enough common sense to just let it go.

Setting a boundary

After coming back and reading this again it's like Ok I heard you now you can hear me .

Absolute Fact
I'm here because I use and LOVE  SONAR ... Why else would I be here ?

A Long Held Desire

Sure , I would like this place to be more positive &  peaceful myself...

Observation based on years of dealing with people that like to play head games

I do find it disconcerting that a person can  have the audacity to publicly post about a collective group of individuals on a forum and their behavior,  call them out on all their shortcomings as a group and not even exhibit one iota of the quality's in their own personal communication style that they are looking to get others to conform to

You can decide , I have already made my decision on these last two.

If anyone here on the forum wants me to modify my behavior just for them so they can have me sit on the grass at their feet and listen to them tell me stories about how it supposed to be in SONARLAND  while they tell me all about the grasshopper I'm supposed to be hearing  in the grass ...

They Sure Better have some real super bad SONAR  Kung Foo ....

Oh, Sorry - y'all talkin' bout the forum mission statement, not the company.

A forum mission statement? That's pretty grandiose and pie in the sky even if it is in the TOS.

Now I want a pony again. >:(

Holy Crap this thread is on its way down the pipe.
People, smile once in a while. It's only a forum.
Everyone  has an opinion and human nature tells us that's bound to cause clashes.

just respect others opinions and try to get along.

I've seen quite a few of these threads over the years and typically what happens is people start reading comments and start taking it personal (is he talking about me ?) a lot of Miscommunication and a lot of people wearing the hangdog face.

like I said, lighten up its only a form....and try to smile
Because I know I am.

This is going well, I see.

To the OP: just a couple of days ago, someone was complaining that the forum is far too positive for its own good, and that it should be more critical.

It's a question of perception and perspective, I suppose. My strategy: I don't care either way. Which is working wonderfully for me.

Talk to the reasonable people, ignore the unreasonable people, don't hesitate to add the absolute berks to your block list. That'll make it fine for you, whatever your individual perspective is.

Yes smiling is good.  We are all quite blessed to have access to such technology and the financial means to get it.  But people are free to complain and be negative all they want, it's a free country!  I was just stating my observations and request for those who agree.
