Now that Sonar's free, mugs and Ts could be part of a new income stream.

Well, apparently not only are they giving away Sonar for free, but giving out free mugs, T's, watches, guitars, and a special night out with Angus Young. So, while I now have Sonar for life, a night out with Angus, will probably see me dead in a fortnight.....bringing about a new motto....

SONAR for Life, or thereabouts !!

Now, where's my mug cake ? While I'm still alive if you please.....

Just adding my 2 cents to this "social justice warrior" thread.   I say, let people post ANYTHING they want.  Freedom of speech buddy.

Don't like a comment, move past it!

I am afraid making requests like these might silence though who have extreme frustrations with on-going problems throughout the years.

Sometimes to make a point, you can't be sugary-sweet... because it might go ignored.

Do I like un-needed anger?  No I don't.... but I just like the idea of not making these sort of "rules" as it hinders of the feeling of freedom this board now possesses.

Im all for freedom of speech as well, but when its on someone else's paid website (cakewalk).
Then its not really freedom of speech. It called being disruptive. Remember, this isn't Twitter or Facebook.

I don't think we are talking about people who have issues and explain them in a constructive, productive way.
we are talking about people who constant this forum with nothing better to do than make it their life mission to smear cakewalks name in the grass.

I tried to phrase my original post as just an observation followed by a request for those who felt the same.  I am not requesting that the moderators force anyone to do anything.

I also think what the OP is referring to also involves thread titles like "Linked MIDI Clip Bug!!" where the issue is not a bug, and the post starts off with "Found a seriously annoying bug." A lot of people instead phrase topics like this as a question, e.g., "Linked MIDI Clip Bug?" which makes more sense.

With the original thread title, someone might just assume there's a linked MIDI clip bug and never find out otherwise. But with a question, someone will be more inclined to open the thread to see if there's an answer, and in the process, learn something about how SONAR defines the length of MIDI clips, and how that relates to the different ways in which you can link clips. Or if it really is a bug, then people will be more inclined to confirm it in order to answer the question.

Yeah my opinion is there's two ways to approach a frustration.  You can come on and "vent" (aka fling verbal poop all over) but then everyone is just covered in poop in the end.  Or you can come in and say "This is what I'm observing, is there anyone experiencing this or any ideas on how to deal with it?"  I like the second approach better.  I think everyone on here, including the Cakewalk staff, is here to help and wants people to have a good experience with the software.

Precisely.

I am in the "you only find what you're looking for" or "you get back what you're putting out" camp and approach the forum with that attitude. If I'm bumping into gripers, I take a break and like the Beepster says, go put on my "happy pants" or find something to do that moves my attitude up there!

I don't ever take any crap/negativity personally........  and minding my own business really simplifies my life in a huge way. I appreciate all the contributors to this forum and all the things I learn each time I visit.

On the subject of FoS, FoS is about preventing government retaliation against disgruntled citizens speaking out against government.  FoS is NOT intended to mean that you can say whatever you want, however you want, to whomever you want without consequences.

Outside of government involvement, the generally accepted rules of social interaction apply.  Unfortunately, text only communication loosens things quite a bit both ways.  Some people are quicker to let a rant fly when it's anonymous text than they would verbally when they walk into a room.  Others are equally more likely to play the role of 'politeness police' in an anonymous, text discussion than they would if somebody walked into a room and said the same thing(s).

When it isn't personal, don't take it personally.

If this thread is about 'haters' or 'trolls', well, is not much you can do about that than identify and monitor them, then if they become a real problem ban them, though that becomes a nightmare in itself, as they start using proxies and new aliases, if they are serious offenders with the tool set and IT knowledge these people tend to have, you just wont be able to keep them out unless you restrict membership to people you know in person only.

Anyhow that is realm of forum admins and cakewalk, as it can be PR headache if done wrong.

Sometimes the people you think are trolling or haters are not, and its better to catch them in house, rather than them spread their sorry tales.

Here is a link to a story I read last week, about the sort of thing that can go wrong on forums when negative people are not listened too.
