Just adding my 2 cents to this "social justice warrior" thread.   I say, let people post ANYTHING they want.  Freedom of speech buddy.

Im all for freedom of speech as well, but when its on someone else's paid website (cakewalk).
Then its not really freedom of speech. It called being disruptive. Remember, this isn't Twitter or Facebook.

I don't think we are talking about people who have issues and explain them in a constructive, productive way.
we are talking about people who constant this forum with nothing better to do than make it their life mission to smear cakewalks name in the grass.

hmmm i would have to see one of those posts, I am on here semi-regulary and have not seen such posts.   And yes, it is a private forum, but why shouldn't a private forum also allow free speech?  why not mimic the great model?

Everyone is under the Code of Conduct. This is listed at the top of the forum and everyone should be familiar with it.
Free speech is allowed to a point. No where is free speech allowed without some caveats.

Most members follow the rules well and no one needs to monitor them. However there are from time to time people that come here to sell refrigerators or shoes and need to be removed. On rare occasions some one will sign up to cause trouble. That doesn't happen much any more.

Reading this thread I have come to the conclusion I have held all along that the membership are highly responsible and thoughtful people. It is clear to me that this forum is as good as the people on it. Which makes it a great forum indeed.

Yes, pat yourselves on the back fore you have done a great job over the years.

The Constitution guarantees freedom of speech, meaning you won't be punished for speaking your mind. It does not, however, guarantee anyone a venue or a willing audience.

If you think people are passionate about DAW software check out Steam.  It's the cesspool of civility.

Surely it can't be as bad as YouTube comments...

There's one guy in particular who has posted under multiple aliases and his rants are always the same - extremely long posts about how SONAR is unuseable, everything else is better but particularly Studio One and Reaper, etc. Nobody likes him so they just get upset, which of course is his goal. The reason why you don't see his posts is because past a certain point they just get deleted. Everyone should freshen up their act periodically

To a huge degree, it does. But these forums were created to serve a specific purpose. If I started a thread here called "Is Carmax Any Good for Buying a Used Car?" I would fully expect it to be deleted. The usual forum criterion is that posts need to be appropriate. If you take the free speech thing to its logical extreme, this forum would be so filled with spam ("solve your erectile dysfunction issues with Uncle Bavi's SuperDuper vitamin cream, and while you're at it, stream soccer games for free!") that no one would participate in it.

Yeah I guess maybe my post wasn't necessary, as after scanning through the last few weeks of posts I'd say they are almost all positive.

I think I was just reacting to a combination of a few "doom and gloom" posts that were essentially suggesting that in some form Cakewalk was in financial trouble, that the lifetime updates are a money grab, and that the recent customer service issues are somehow tied into that.  Not so much that these ideas were suggested, but that a few people seemed to be pushing this as an agenda even after the Cakewalk staff had responded on numerous occasions debunking them.

Anyway, thanks to all for a great forum and glad to be part of it.  Just bought the lifetime updates so I'm psyched :)

MY mate SteveStrummerUK says it best.

Maybe we should only say here what we would if we were face to face with the intended individual.

I wonder:
Would a "SONAR for life is money grab" poster say that to ANY Cakewalk employee to their face?
Would a "who makes this software, chimps?" poster say that to ANY Cakewalk employee to their face?
