This is probably glaringly simple- apologies please help.
I am running sonar platinum with roland vs 700 studio- all has been working great. I think I may have clicked something somewhere (possibly in preferences).
I have been recording midi using a control keyboard, softsynths and hardware synths all work/sound fine and midi is recorded on the track no problem. The synths sound when I play the keyboard but when I play back the recorded track it is there but silent- why?
Any help would be much appreciated.

OK after much messing about it is now only hardware synths that are doing this.
Can anyone tell me what I should and should not have ticked inpreferences to get this working.

Sounds like you need to uncheck 'Disable Input Monitoring during Playback' under Preferences > Audio > Playback and Recording. The audio tracks for hardware synths need to have input monitoring enabled all the time until the audio is recorded.
