From what I have heard, the man probably will ride the company to ruin before he will give up either control or his stock to pay the company debts.

.
1. It might be a short ride
2. You can't ride if you are pushed off (Control)

He is certainly not a popular man, but I don't think you can blame Gibson for what happened to Cakewalk, I mean they have been loosing/not making any money since pre Roland times right through by all accounts, you really can't expect a Company, be it Gibson, Roland, whoever to keep propping Cakewalk up when they are just loosing money year after year. In the end you got to lay the blame where it deserves to be laid, and that is squarely at the feet of Cakewalk, they are the ones that couldn't make a product that appealed to enough people to make it viable, I mean outside these forums Cakewalk and SONAR have never been very popular, never really had a good name, mainly known for being flaky, buggy, clunky, old, unstable and on and on, that's just how it is regardless of our personal experiences with the product, an individuals personal experience counts for nothing in the face of what the majority of outsiders see, believe, think. It will take an awful lot to turn things around, to get out of the shadow of the Cakewalk/SONAR reputation that is out there.

I don't think the Mattel BandLab takeover thing will last (I give it 2 years tops), but if it does work out, good luck to them. But I think the horse has well and truly bolted, many have moved on, and if you believe what you read here and on other forums, many of them have no intention of returning, they are quite happy in their new crash and trouble free surrounds. You can tell by the forum activity, even after the Mattel BandLab takeover the forums are pretty much like a ghost town.

Roland - Strike One
Gibson - Strike Two
Mattel BandLab - Strike Three ???

It's either going to be a home run or "Your'e Out" That's how I see it.
