Hello, Is anyone having the same problem please? When I load any east west modules in Sonar x1 I have no problems, as soon as I load Hollywood strings gold problems start. I can play a melody and then record it, I play it back fine but as soon as I rewind the music the strings sounds of the module stop playing while the other modules are ok and playing normally. Is anyone having this fault in X1? Both X1 and East west product upgraded to the latest patch. my pc is: Winxp 64 bits, 4 cores 3.2 Ghz 8 gigs of ram Thanks, Ben

Using W7 64 and previously Vista 64 Hollywood Strings and X1 works great for me.  HS does not behaved any differently than the rest of the EW libraries I own.  Hopefully you get it straightened out.

Just a guess, and a workaround perhaps -- but it may help ...

In

references try unchecking both the "patch search back" and "reset controllers on rewind" settings.   I'm not at my DAW but it should be easy enough to find.

It sounds like the E/W app is either resetting its program or it's resetting its "Volume" (to 0).

Your system specs look robust enough, however... you list WinXP x64 as your OS.  Is that correct?

Few, if any, developers support XP x64.  Doesn't mean it's necessarily incompatible - just that you likely won't find much help if you run into any problems.

Which means that when you do have a problem (like now), there's no way to know if it's the result of some incompatibility with your "unsupported" OS, or something else entirely.

I strongly recommend getting Windows 7 ASAP.  (You can buy a legit OEM copy - Home Premium version - for about $100 USD):

Good luck!

Oh yes Billy is correct, I often lay in Mod Wheel controls right away and forgot that the mod wheel seems to reset to 0 when you 'rewind'.  You could also try manually adding in a mod wheel (CC1) event at the start of each trach.  Sorry I did not understand your problem when I first read it.

I use a PLAY v2 here with 64 bit W7 in SONAR 8.5.3 and X1, and Cubase 6. Everything works fine. There are
a number of people reporting performance issues with PLAY 3.0.25 in the E-W forum.

Thank you all for your kind reply. I have tried: "Just a guess, and a workaround perhaps -- but it may help ... In

I can play the instruments and see the meters moving but none of the notes are getting recorded, could this be due to something else I have missed? Regarding Windows 7, how good this OS is? I am just scared it works like the old Vista, I never buy an OS when it comes out because most of the time it is full of bugs, could you please tell me if you experience problems with it? With winxp 64, the system is extremely stable, I never experience crashes with the OS itself, but for sound recording, I have to say that only hollywood strings crashes, the rest is fine. Now, JonD, the link you gave me here: http://www.newegg.com/Pro...x?Item=N82E16832116986 Do they send it by post or just as a download? Thank you, Ben

I am running XP Pro 64bit without any problems with EW Hollywood(Diamond).  If you still have "echo on" on the track, it may be picking up your expression peddle setting from you keyboard if it is at 0 when you do a rewind.
If that isn't the problem make sure you check in  your controller lanes to see if it recorded something that is turning it off at the start. Keep hitting the "+" in the controller lanes until all you get is more velocity lanes to see what other controller info your keyboard has sent and then check for controllers that are recorded at "0" or very low.

On an aside note one oddity I have noticed about the EW is that ASIO buffer settings directly from the ASIO panel slider can have a major effect on static type noise if set to high.  I am running an Edirol FA 101 so it may be peculiar to it but I don't think this relates to your current problem.

Extremely stable here.  It's been out for awhile now, and unlike Vista's release, Win7 has been met with mostly positive reviews.  Many say it's the best OS since XP.

My point to you (and others) who make the argument that XP x64 runs fine, so why upgrade?  Well, putting aside the problem you have right now - which admittedly may have nothing to do with XP x64 .... The bottom line is, you are using an old, (technically) unsupported OS.

One day an update or new program will  turn out to be incompatible, and you will inevitably be forced to upgrade.  At that point, it won't be pretty... So isn't it better to do it now (or soon) on your own terms and schedule?

To answer your question, Newegg typically ships their products.  (I'm not aware of a way to get Win7 legitimately as a download, but that doesn't mean it isn't possible.   Maybe someone else will know and chime in).

Good luck.

The only place to get an OS download is in the Microsoft online store. You can get a better price usually at Newegg or TigerD. You'll have no
worries with W7. The life cycle for XP ended over a year ago, so like JD said, its hard to get any direct support, even when East-West says it will run in XP.
