  • Can somebody point me to offline installation instructions?

I know it's been discussed but I can't find a FAC and searching is giving me lots of unrelated links.

I need to install Sonar at my remote work location and require a step-by-step instruction list. I want to make some install disks and have no idea what I need from my home system. D/L at the remote location just isn't an option. No need for Melodyne or AD2, just the basic files and features for my Platinum license.

Once I get it installed I'm hoping I just enter my serial number. Again, no real idea. I haven't done an actual disk install since 8.5.

Sorry for asking, but I'm not having luck on my own.

Download the parts that you want to install from your store account.

This page will tell you what comes with each version and which plugins are included in the various installers.

https://www.cakewalk.com/Products/SONAR/Versions

Also in the Cakewalk store in your account when you select Sonar Platinum it will show you all the other installers included. If you select any of those installers you will be shown what individual files make it up.

Hope that helps.

If you also want to do an offline activation then these are the instructions found in the FAQs

SONAR Platinum/Professional/Artist Offline Activation
Access to the Internet from another computer is necessary in order to download the SONAR installers and to transfer the activation files. SONAR Platinum and SONAR Professional users should note that Addictive Drums 2 can only be installed on a computer with an Internet connection.

Visit your Cakewalk account to download the SONAR installers and transfer them to your offline computer.

After installing SONAR, open the Help menu > Offline Activation > Export Activation Request to open the Save activation request dialog box.
Note that this menu option will not be available after SONAR has been activated.

Select the folder to which you want to save the activation request, then click Save. This generates an activation request file with a .crq extension.
Tip: save this file to a convenient location, like your Desktop or Documents folder, so it will be easy to find in the upcoming steps.

Copy the .crq file to an online computer (using a USB drive, for example).

Using an online computer, open the Activate section of your Cakewalk account. Sign in with your Cakewalk username and password if necessary.

Click the Select a File button to upload the .crq file.

Click the Submit button. Your browser will begin downloading the activation response file, which has a .dat extension.
Internet Explorer users must also click Save for the file to download.

Transfer the .dat file to the offline computer. It will most likely be available in the online computer's Downloads folder.

Open SONAR's Help menu > Offline Activation > Import Activation Response to open the Import activation response dialog box.

Select the .dat file that you downloaded and click Open. A toast notification will let you know that SONAR is activated and ready to use.
If activation fails, contact Cakewalk support.

Thank you Mike. That's somehow easier to understand than Cake's web page. It looks like I only need 2 files, the core plug-ins and the Sonar installer. Your description for an offline install is identical to the procedure I had to use for my Izotope plugs. They have a video walk through of the procedure for their process.

I should be good to go, have a great weekend!

I actually copied Cakewalks offline activation instruction. I couldn't get a link to work just for that section.

You've all been very helpful, much thanks. I think it would be great if Cake set it up so that you could D/L prepared disk images for offline installs. It would remove any uncertainty as to what was required. The offline activation system is annoying but I guess that's all about piracy.
