Hi, guys and gals! I was just wondering if anyone is concerned about the big update coming in April. I see in the Microsoft info that they are working with software companies to make this transition as smooth as possible. I see that there are tweaked up features to give gamers more horsepower. I hope that translates over to audio as well. Hey, have any of the bakers been contacted yet?

Looks like Win10 Professional, Education, and Enterprise users will be able to defer new updates for up to 35 days, as well as decide whether they want to include driver updates in the downloads.
Definitely a good option for DAW users.

Sidroe, Sidroe, Sidroe . It seems you have the knack of posing the difficult/rock turning questions. I still see your post regarding the staff view pop up from time to time and I'm thinking this (fearsome, as bitman so elegantly puts it) question may have almost as many pages in it.
I read a report just yesterday from a journalist stating that it has absolutely nothing worth jumping up and down about, then another stating that it could change the computing landscape forever, and that Apple should be afraid of having its monopoly on DTP taken over.
I think any claim regarding how a Windows update is going to be revolutionary is a minefield we should tip toe through warily.

I'm with the windows insiders program and have been running multiple releases of the creator's update for some time. I'd say I've been through four or five OS updates in the last six months, and I'm on the slow ring. When I was on the fast ring it was more like every couple of weeks. And through it all I've been using Sonar with very few issues (aside from some self-inflicted wounds when I decided to enable my internal sound device and it got into an argument with my MOTU ASIO drivers.)

Of course it has not been without its bumps along the way, but it's become a very sold, very nimble OS with a pretty pain-free update process. The only issue I consistently hit is that an OS update convinces XLN that my AD2 plug-in doesn't belong to me so I have to re-authorize it on my PC with each update.

So, while I won't say that you won't have any trouble, I will say that it's very possible that you won't.

I was flying past this a couple weeks ago and it looked cool for VR and Graphics but I found nothing on Audio enhancements. But like I said I was just passing by the site... :)

Is it designed around any relevant features for DAW users?

I too am in the "Win 10 Insiders" and have the latest Creators version.  I see no difference in operation and Sonar Platinum runs without problems.  Latency Mon also shows no problems.  There are extra apps installed for 3D, Games, etc but unless you use one of those they just sit there, like any other program that is not opened.

One caveat, I'm on a newly built system and the hardware is 100% Windows 10 compatible.

I turned off feature updates for now. I don't want to experiment on "day 1"

Rebel007! Believe me when I say I did not intend for that staff view thread to go cartwheeling off the track the way it did!! While I am glad that there are more people than I expected who are interested in actually using a notation feature, I am saddened that the thread got sidetracked into a platform for arguments. My intent was to find out if the Bakers really ever had an intention to fix staff view and now, 30 some-odd pages later, it almost has a life of its own.
Anyway, I am comforted to hear that there has been no major problems it seems with the early testing of Creator and Sonar. Although, I too have to re-register my XLN accounts in the computer IDs every time I upgrade. XLN just doesn't play well it seems with Microsoft upgrades.
