If I have a softsynth track, I can insert softsynths in to its FX. Also, if I insert Audio FX, one of the options is z3ta. Does that work and if so how?

hmmm...thanks for that. The only trouble is, if ask to insert a synth into the audio track, the only one available is z3ta+ 2, which does not have the Audio Through option.  This is weird, because if I ask to insert an FX, z3ta+ (1), which is what Craig Anderton is talking about. But then of course I can't do what he suggests.
 
I know that to get z3ta+ as a synth, I need to Manage Plugins and I have managed to get z3ta+ into Synths and have selected my new layout file, but z3ta won't show.
 
I also only managed once to get audio through z3ta+ as an FX.

HI. I can insert a softsynth no problem. My problem is to get z3ta+ as a softsynth.
 
I ask to Manage Layouts . I choose VST Instruments. I see z3ta+ there. I select it and ask to add it to Synths in the RHS column. I then save my new layouts to "New layout.pgl".
 
I then try to Insert Synth again. I cannot find z3ta+, only z3ta+ (64) 2. I click Plugin Layouts and confirm that New layout is ticked. I assume that means it is my chosen layout for inserting synths. In Manage layouts, z3ta+ is still in the Synth list on the RHS. It just will not show in the list of synths when I ask for synths.

Is z3ta+ not showing up when you go to menu "Insert > Soft Synths"?
 
I did not have to do anything in layouts to make it appear.  It is part of the default Sonar install.

That is correct. I have looked at every sub-category. When I first asked to Manage Layouts (at this stage default) z3ta+ was not shown in any category. So as I described I tried to put it into Synths in the Manager. Save the file, see new layout ticked in Insert Softsynth/Plugin Layouts....no z3ta+, only z3ta+ 2 (64). Go back to Manager and z3ta+ is definitely in Synths.
 
Only SONAR crashed in the middle of all this and now I do NOT see my new layout ticked in Plugin Layouts. It's there but not ticked and I can't fix that. If I open the Manager, it is the new layout file that it opens to.....with z3ta+ in Synth in the RHS column.

Just in case it was me, I successfully _deleted_ z3ta+ from the FX in the Manager and it went away. Then I put it back and it came back.
 
I read another post where a guy was getting FX to "stick" but not sift synths.

That is not normal, so maybe take a look at this?
