So to manipulate available VST plugins you work in Windows Explorer and actually move them somewhere else?
Normally I do not use Windows Explorer, except for occasional cleanup. Just using the VST scan paths in Sonar preferences lets me choose the VST folders that are included in the scan.
The easiest method to reorganize is as follows...
Many plugins provide an uninstall routine that you can find in Windows Control Panel. Uninstall the sucker if you don't want to see it anymore. Some plugins are just a single DLL file (no installer provided) that you can put anywhere, or delete if you wish.
If you do want to put a plugin somewhere else, first uninstall it. Then re-install it, while specifying the target folder that it drops the VST into. Make sure that folder is included in your Sonar scan path. Many plugins store their content and settings in other locations from the VST folders. Each installer seems to have a mind of it's own, and it can be like herding cats.
