  • Help!!!Sonar X3 - clips deleting in layers (video added)

Hi.I went from the X2 to X3, and found this: When I move one clip to another inside a layer - the clip is deleting. In X2, when I did the same, both clips remained.
I tried to change the record settings-"sound on sound, comping and so on" - nothing!
This is a very crucial issue for me,coz I need to combine different clips inside one layer.

Please, help. Where can I fix it?

Here's the video I made of what I mean -  blue clips - X2, red-X3

You can't post links until you have a certain number of posts.

There are no more "layers" in X3, there are "take lanes". In addition, certain comping tools were added in X3, perhaps these are getting in your way? The last Sonar to have track layers was 8.5.

Take lanes=Layers - in my situation.

Sorry, maybe try posting the link again? When you say "I move one clip to another inside a layer", I don't really get what you mean.

With a few exceptions (more in X3 than now), same-lane overlaps are not permitted, and attempting to overlap clips in the same lane will generally result in the clip in the 'drop zone' getting slip-edited out of the way, or even into oblivion if it's completely covered by the dropped clip.

As a general rule, if you want two clips to occupy the same time period they should be in separate lanes. If you're working with lanes showing, you will need to add a lane if there isn't already a space available in an existing lane. If working in the parent track with lanes collapsed, SONAR will generally create a new lane for you, but the exact result depends on whether you're working with audio or MIDI, whether you have Auto-crossfades enabled for audio and/or Non-destructive MIDI Editing for MIDI and what your Drag and Drop mode is in preferences (i.e. Blend or Overwrite. Slide Over to Make Room has issues, and should be avoided).
