I have just had Splat crash about 5 times doing very simple audio editing...I have a music track on one track, I have a voice on another track, I pull in a voice from my downloads folder onto a cloned voice over track to match up with the old one just to insert a change in the script and voiceover...every time I get the "Audio dropout" box and it locks up...weird!!!! Oh...it's been at least 2 minutes and now it just unlocked ...Wacky

Try a system reboot.  If that doesn't help, there's always SPlat rollback..

there are a few things to look at when any crash occurs.
 
- Hardware = your audio interface, Hard drive, exc.
- Vst plug ins = a synth or a VST plug in causing a crash (use safe mode).
- Driver conflicts = an old driver not installed or 2 drivers fighting over which one works with what.
- Updates - Windows updates or C++, visual, exc
