What sound card are you using?

Windows XP Pro, MC6, EMU1616pci, Roland SD50, Realtec HD Audio. I had been able to drag and drop the MIDI tracks to a Sound Studio or Studio Inst. Synth with no problems, now it is like the MIDI is not responding in the synth track. For example, MIDI drum track to a studio instrument drum kit will sound the first note then nothing else, I double click the drum kit in the kit window and it will play, restart the track and nothing, or the synth will play partial notes, like maybe a third of what is in the MIDI. I have never had a problem with this before yesterday. Have I tried everything I can think of to fix this and I'm a little confused as to what has happened.

Be sure the midi track output is going to the synth..... the kit will play when you click it but not play the midi you dropped into the track.... be sure the midi track is sending to the synth. output to input....

also check to see that you are using the EMU card and not the realtec. You want to be sure the EMU is the input and output for Music Creator.
Partial notes are symptomatic of a factory sound card, as well as having the wrong driver selected and midi buffers that are too small. Any one or a combination thereof can cause that.

Your rig is a good rig....XP and MC6.... similar to mine.....

Copy that.
Your E-MU card will perform best using its native ASIO drivers.
It really doesn't like to share. Disable the Realtec. You can insert a wave input strip in Patchmix for sound coming from Windows, YouTube, etc.
Has your system been subjected to any recent events, such as Windows updates, power surges, lightning?
Do you let your computer go into sleep mode, or do you power it down?

Gentlemen I appreciate the help, I have tried your suggestions, either it ain't going to work or I'm to dense to figure this out. This is what I have... The only way I get any audio sound is with my audio driver at MME32 bit and Realtec as the sound playback, mixing latency at 40.0 msec. I have always used the synth track as a simple instrument track. I have no idea how to get the EMU card to be the audio output. I can record my guitars and my vocals in using the dock input A. I have 6 tunes I have done with what I described with no problems, but now I can't get 1 midi track to drop to the synth. As far as I know I have had no issues with power surges, updates, and I always power off my computer. Please feel free to educate this idiot at your convenience. Thanks

What is "dock input A"?
Do you, by chance, have a copy of ASIO4All lurking on your machine? If so, uninstall it. It will interfere with the native ASIO drivers for the E-MU.
Do you have the most recent updates for Patchmix and E-MU ASIO drivers?
The E-MU will not send audio to the speaker port on your computer. Your speakers must be connected to the outputs of the E-MU card.

Have you done anything with Patchmix(the E-MU control interface)?
It can be a bit tricky to set up, but it is vastly superior to the Realtec, and is worth the effort.
Once you have it set up, you don't really need to mess with it.

Thank you for your input(s), I appreciate all the help I can get. First, the "dock input A", This unit has what EMU calls A MicroDock, it is a remote box that is connected to the card by a Network Interface cable, it has an A and B input on the front for connecting your microphone, guitar, ect, balanced or unbalanced, and a headphone jack. On the back is a series of various inputs and outputs including MIDI cables. I just went out to EMU's website and downloaded all the support downloads for this unit, which had a update for the applications and the driver. So we will try this again, the Patchmix is a bit of a nightmare but I did get it set up to allow me to put my vocals and guitars in, so maybe now I can configure some audio. I will be back here with more soon, Thanks again for your help.

wow... you just reminded me of something.

When I first got into digital recording I bought an EMU card to use. What a freaking pain. It had patchmix with it and I literally had to call EMU every single time I set up a new project to have their support guys walk me through the patchmix setup......

I ended up yanking that EMU PCI card out and sold it cheap and fast on ebay and bought a different card that ended up being so much easier to use. The difference was like day and night.

You might want to have a serious look at the EMU card and perhaps get something easier to use. I did, and never regretted losing that EMU.
