Can't find more than this detailing who played on the individual tracks:
"Though its track list includes a tune with original Jimi Hendrix Experience members Mitch Mitchell and Noel Redding, the bulk of the set features the lineup that became Band of Gypsies – bassist Billy Cox and drummer Buddy Miles." Other than the guest list of course.
My guess is that Mitch is drumming on
Hear my Train A Comin' and
Sweet Angel (my personal favorite).
For me it just isn't Hendrix without Mitch; something about the way he uses the kick seems to
free Jimi up to really soar.
As to Noel, I couldn't care less.
Woodstock is a rare gem; very much a treat to hear Stills working up its eventual arrangement.
Can't ever get enough of Johnny Winter, so
Things I Used To Do has to go on my "I loved it" list.
Is this an A+ production, nay; but its all we have and I'll pick it up.
The
Radio One sessions remain my favorite posthumous work; but of course Jimi had "completed"
those...

PS: as to "music theory"?
Its how lesser musicians explain what Jeff Beck, Hendrix. et al are doing (or have done).
Yes, we all need to understand I IIm IV V etc. and it is "convenient" to label the various scales;
especially for the purposes teaching.
But do I ever think "I'll go all Mixolydian or Lydian this one"; really?
