  • Track Folder Template?

Is there any way to create and save a "folder template"?

For example, I'd like to save my "Guitars" folder containing 8 individual tracks with plug-ins, etc. as a template, then have the ability to insert that folder into a new project or an existing one. Then just delete the actual audio clips and go from there. I know I can create main templates and bus templates, but a folder template would be sweet.
Thanks.

I think this is just the same as a track template. Just create the setup you want, put it in a folder, and export it as a track template. If it doesn't insert into your new project as a folder (though I think it should) just quick select them and right click to choose "move to folder/new folder".

If you select all of the tracks AND the their containing folder, right click and choose 'save as template' the folder and all of its contents will be included. I use templates with folders all the time.

Just know that Track Templates don't save any audio or midi clips of recorded data.  It's not their purpose.

But, I too use track templates all the time, specially for drum kits, as I will have each kit piece from a drum synth routed to its own audio outputs from the drum synth, and routed to its own audio track within my drums track folder.  I also have a bus created for parallel compression, toms, cymbals, kick, and snare, to give me excellent control over things quickly.  ALL of that stuff is also save in the track templates, and it save me COUNTLESS hours of time in any given month, rather than having to set it all up for every new project.

Yes - good point Bob.  Templates, by their very nature, are empty, so there will be no need to delete any audio data before creating or after recalling a template as you thought you might have to Jeff.

They are a brilliant time saver. They leave the new fangled add track button for dead IMHO:)

I found that I had to rename the folder before I saved it as a template.  I named the folder "Folder Template", then saved the entire folder as suggested above.  That worked, and I could insert the entire folder from the saved template.

Otherwise, when I tried to insert the template, wanting a complete folder with tracks, it imported only the tracks into the previous folder that shared a folder name with that folder that had been saved in the template.
