Just curious, what does it mean when the Automation Read button for a track is half shaded as in Track 2 below (in the yellow circle)? I've checked several of the automation pages in the docs, but can't find this info.

Note that as far as I'm aware, I haven't done any automation writing for this track (or any tracks in this project). I expanded the automation lanes to show that it has a volume track with a fully-shaded automation read button.

Thanks, Chris

It means that some individual parameter(s) in that track have been read-disabled. Right clicking on a control allows you to disable or enable read/write status for that parameter only (as does selecting it in an automation lane and disabling it) The read/write status for an individual automation lane is by definition displaying only one parameter at a time (volume in your screenshot), so it can only be on or off, not half-shaded (what the helpfile refers to as dimmed). I'm not sure how you could find which parameter in your track has been read-disabled, I guess you could switch through the different envelopes in the automation lane to see which is disabled.

Thanks. I've poked around in the automation lane and found that toggling the Read button on volume, I could undim, or re-half-dim the main-tracks Read button. I can also affect the dimmed status by toggling the "R!" button in the Mix Module of the Control Bar.

But since I haven't recorded automation for these tracks, I'm not really sure what I'm enabling/disabling. I guess I'll wait until it matters more.

Thanks for your time,
Chris
