Hi all, does anyone know if there is a scale tunning vst midi plugin or in Sonar?? something that I can insert in a midi track then use a note and make it a quarter note, something like oriental arabic scale

I wanna be able to change the (Cent) of a not for example---> B note = -50 cents. how can I get this then record, because it wont be the same if I used the pitch control .. thanks

The scale manager in Sonar seems to be set up to work with changes of a semitone (100 cents) in an equal-tempered scale. If you can live with that, it may already have the scale you want, or you can set one up yourself. Maybe someone with more experience with this can advise you on how to get what you want using that feature.

Once you get into microtuning, you will need to have two things. A way to define your scale, and an instrument to play it. Some instruments (wood&wire pianos obviously, but also a significant proportion of synths can't play notes between the keys from a simple midi note number). You might be able to tweak the note you want by adding pitch bend events to your midi file, but that could get tedious if you want every instance of that note detuned. Scala is becoming a standard way of defining scales, and Rapture, and Dimension are examples of softsynths that can load Scala files, and that would probably be the easiest way to go.

Constructing scales from scratch is one of Scala's strengths. Right-click on the following link, and 'Save Target As ...' 000 Quarter Tone B.scl

Drop it in either Dimension Pro or Rapture.
drive letter:\Program Files\Cakewalk\Dimension Pro\Tunings -OR- drive letter:\Program Files\Cakewalk\Rapture\Tunings.

Launch either Dimension Pro or Rapture. Click on the Pitch (modulator), then click on the Pitch Keytrack (diagonal line graphic).
Load the '000 Quarter Tone B' file for each active Element in the synth preset.
