I'm keeping SONAR on my system for as long as it keeps working, but I'm not taking my production PC offline and freezing my operating system (Windows 10) or taking any other extraordinary steps to keep SONAR running through Microsoft updates. SONAR has been my only DAW, but it's the past, and I want to work in an environment that's still alive, so I'm looking for a new digital audio home. Samplitude seems to be powerful and stable and full-featured, and I may switch to it. They have a user forum, very helpful, but not like this one. (Nothing is like this one, and I intend to lurk here as long as it's up and running.) The Samplitude forum has a section called "The Listening Room," where it looks like people post their work at the rate of about ten songs a year. Not ten songs each member, but
ten songs, period. They're not into sharing, I guess. Maybe the new ex-SONAR users over there will change things.
I haven't been active here, and now I wish I had been. When I have posted something and asked for advice, you have all been generous, kind and helpful, but I just didn't get around to doing it much. Now -- since I'm moving on -- it won't seem right to post stuff done in another DAW here.
Every year I record a song for Christmas. This one was started in SONAR before the Big Announcement, and I finished it in SONAR. I'm not planning to fine tune the mix or anything -- it was done for kicks -- so I'm just putting it here to share with all of you, my imaginary friends. Have a Rockin' Christmas!
