In 8.5.3, my prior version, right click to create a clip envelope (gain or pan). Gone in this version. CTRL + Left Click for Gain. Right Click would be great for Pan and logical, but that's not how it works. You have to over and select the clip drown down and then to insert Pan automation (which is inserted on every clip, not just the one you want it on). Is there a simpler two click solution or a CTRL something to just put pan into one clip, not all the clips on that track?

Automation in general was the main reason I held on to 8.5 for so long. Lots of automation-related things were easier under 8.5.

I don't believe there is any shortcut for creating clip pan envelopes. OTOH, it's no more or less of a hassle than track pan envelopes.

That shouldn't matter too much because there are nodes at each clip start and end, so adjusting one won't affect the others. Also note that if you can see the clip pan, you can hold Ctrl to convert the cursor to the Move tool.

I like the idea of right-click + ctrl to do for pan what left-click + ctrl does for gain. Almost seems like it might have been an oversight not to do this. Meanwhile, I suppose it would be possible to set up a macro so you would need only one key to show the clip pan envelopes.

No, that's not the genesis of the nickname. I coined the nickname as a combination of "SONAR" and "Platinum" because I thought it was funny. Not sure anyone at Cakewalk has ever quite forgiven me   Then again, I don't have problems with automation. And panning individual ciips is something I rarely do...actually can't remember the last time I did, although I'm sure I have.

Actually, I've never found clip pan to be reliable. Sometimes works sometimes doesn't)
(unless the 'clip' is the whole track).

Clip gain, on the other hand, is a pretty important tool That should always be front and center. IMHO.
I noticed a video for S1 where the guy used a simple gain plug and created an envelope. DOH!!
Haven't tried it in Splat yet. But, maybe it would relinquish a click or middle mouse button push somewhere (except for the inserting the gain plug part).

Congratulations on your coining.

Thanks everyone for the responses. Perhaps Craig can help CTRL - Right Click (Pan) happen in an update. :)
