  • Melodyne Editor No Longer Works With Latest Sonar Upgrade [FIXED]

Just tooling along, doing my thing. Right-click a portion of a vocal phrase to select Region FX/Celemony/Melodyne. Nothing there. It's gone from the drop-down menu. The plug-in still exists but is no longer valid, apparently.

I read another post that the license expired once Sonar went past a certain version. Not a game-breaker, since I can use the single track edition for edits. Still... I bought version 4 (Melodyne Essentials) and did not like its anemic toolbox. The folks over at Celemony were kind enough to refund my money, which was surprising and rather nice. Melodyne Editor is $500. Ouch!

Someone say that this isn't so - having just bought lifetime updates I'm going to be be a very unhappy camper if this means I now have to buy melodyne again.

AFAIK, Melodyne licenses do not expire. Celemony does require you to surrender your old license when upgrading to Melodyne 4. While this is a free upgrade for Melodyne Essentials users there is an upgrade fee for all the other versions. Celemony had the upgrades on sale when 4 was first released. IIRC, they also have sales once or twice a year.

If the stand alone version of Melodyne works and the Region FX does not, it may be the VST3 format plug-in is not installed.

Phew. Thanks scook. I thought that this surely couldn't be the case, but I have yet to install the latest update, so had to ask.

I've verified that the vst files are in place. I'll contact Celemony and get a read from them.

if the VST3 plug-in loads in the FX bin and works, it is a Cakewalk problem. Otherwise, it is an installation issue or a Celemony support problem. The first thing I would try is reinstall the VST3 plug-in for which ever version you are trying to use. I believe you can do this by running the Melodyne installer from the Windows Control panel and repair or modify the installation. If that does not work, it may be fixed by uninstalling and reinstalling Melodyne making sure the VST3 plug-in is selected in the installer.

I re-installed Melodyne, to no avail. I am able to drag the plugin into a track FX bin but doing so turns it into a non ARA fiasco. Loading an old song that employed Melodyne gives me a bunch of "missing clip" errors, saying the plugin has been improperly installed. That can't be, since the VST shows up in the Cakewalk Plugin Manager. Bottom Line: It has disappeared from the Region FX drop-down menu. I've reset and re-scanned all plugins, and re-started the computer. No change.

EDIT: Email pending from Celemony.

It is not clear which Melodyne versions you have installed and which you returned. If you installed M4 over M2 and reverted to M2, a system restore to when you knew M2 ran properly is easiest. M4 does not uninstall properly and does disable M2 otherwise.

did you try a rescan/reset of your VST plug ins scanner ?
Maybe its not showing up because it hasn't been scanned yet. And do you have your plug ins installed in the default locations ? or are they on a separate HD, different folder locay ?

I had Editor 2.1.2. "Upgraded" to Essentials 4. Uninstalled 4 and went back to M2, using it for 6 months with no problem until now. (They both installed into their own folders.) BTW, I always stick with the default install paths, just because of stuff like this.

Anyway, Celemony has replied to my distress call and recommended an uninstall/reinstall of Melodyne. As soon as I square away some RL "emergencies," I'll get on it.
