That is a valid point.  A good preamp for anything you record acoustically would probably be of more benefit, sound-wise, than converters.  I am hard pressed to hear a difference between my two modern tascam units, unless I really listen and even then, there is a lot of confirmation bias.  Once you reach a certain level of sonic competence, that last 5-10% is slicing pretty thin bread.  Still, unless I'm recording more than 2 instruments, I always use the 7000.  ;-)

I hear you. I have Seventh Circle pres here, plus a Soundcraft M4 AND the Konnekt's pres so pretty happy with that setup. I'd even put the M4's pres ahead of the Konnekt's. I'm sure there's a sonic improvement in the pres of a higher end unit. For that matter, the D-pres on the Yamaha mixers and Steinberg interfaces are better, at least to my ears. Not that the Konnekt's are bad at all. They're quite good. I know at some point everything's going to be obsolete, just feel like I'm nearing it for the Konnekt. Who knows, maybe Behringer will resurrect it as a cheaper Euphoria48!
