The PRV is a great way to input drum notes.

I agree. PRV is the only way I do it.

I did not know you could label the notes in PRV, that would solve my problem for sure. Ill take another look. Also i see a video in another post, will.check that too.

Glad i asked, thanks everybody!

I tried posting a link to the cakewalk guide in my previous post with how to do it, but im not allowed to post links yet so it gets removed.

I typically use a drum software module to create a pattern (such as session drummer or BFD3), then export that MIDI pattern to Sonar and do any granular editing in the PRV.  Creating from scratch in the PRV is tedious for me.  I've never tried the step sequencer or matrix view, but those are on my agenda to learn someday.

Hello, I've followed the full guide for 'Setting-up-a-Drum-Map-for-Addictive-Drums-2-in-SONAR' in Cakewalk's knowledge base, but Im still not getting the PRV to view drum names instead of piano keys.

Not sure if I can post links yet but:

did you download the AD drum map as well ?
You might have to "Show drum pane" in PRV. Also (if you have multiple instruments in the PRV) make sure you have drums in focus in the PRV.

The AD2 drum map works well.  But the only way I have ever figured out how to load one up is to start out by loading the track template for AD2, that includes a drum map.

This also loads the drum map into the step sequencer as well.  Very handy.

If there is a way to load the map without inserting the template, I would love to know!

Yes I installed all three files in steps 2-4 into the correct directories, and double and triple checked that they are in the right place.

Well it just randomly worked right now, finally I can finish my demos.

Dammit, but no it didnt. ?The track with the drum view was playing through addictive keys instead, so I deleted it and inseted a new AD2 track, and now its playing as drums but still has piano keys in the PRV.

This is so annoying! Been trying to get this to work for about a week now :(

When I go to the 'show drum pane', its blank like this:

here's what I want you to do.

Go to the addictive drums midi track or a blank area in that AD track and right click / choose Views/ PRV.
This will open up the AD drums in the PRV. It sounds like what is happening is you either A- Don't have focus on AD drums or B- Don't have the drum pane open.

FYI- you might be clicking on the wrong track (try track 20 or 21) that's the midi track.
You also may have a controller lane pegged all the way up, covering the PRV. to be honest I cant really tell.

That pic shows exactly what I get if I use "Insert > Soft Synth > Drums > Addictive Drums 2".

If I instead use "Insert > Track Template > Soft Synth Track Templates > AD2 > AD2 Track.cwx", then I get the desired drum map view in piano roll and step sequencer.
