here's what I want you to do.

Go to the addictive drums midi track or a blank area in that AD track and right click / choose Views/ PRV.
This will open up the AD drums in the PRV. It sounds like what is happening is you either A- Don't have focus on AD drums or B- Don't have the drum pane open.

FYI- you might be clicking on the wrong track (try track 20 or 21) that's the midi track.
You also may have a controller lane pegged all the way up, covering the PRV. to be honest I cant really tell.

I tried this on tracks 6, 20, and 21, I still get the blank white PRV.

That pic shows exactly what I get if I use "Insert > Soft Synth > Drums > Addictive Drums 2".

If I instead use "Insert > Track Template > Soft Synth Track Templates > AD2 > AD2 Track.cwx", then I get the desired drum map view in piano roll and step sequencer.

Yes this is how I have inserted the the track template, through Insert > track Template > Soft Synth Track templates.

Suppose I'll have to wait for Cakewalk support to look into this for me.

I've been using the Piano Roll View to edit my drums for years.
I made a video a few years back, its a bit dated (and it could be better) but its the basics

How do you add the 4 separate beat boxes per bar into PRV?

I'm just going to try and complete my piece with the piano keys in PRV now.

OK, I figured this out!!!

The AD2 drum map works well.  But the only way I have ever figured out how to load one up is to start out by loading the track template for AD2, that includes a drum map.

This also loads the drum map into the step sequencer as well.  Very handy.

If there is a way to load the map without inserting the template, I would love to know!

If you only insert the AD2 as a simple instrument track, you will not have a separate MIDI track to work with in the track view.

Based on the Sonar help file, you will need a MIDI track to accomplish this.  Inserting a track template works, but so does splitting the instrument into separate audio and MIDI tracks.

To assign a MIDI track to a drum map:

1. Display the Track view if it is minimized.

2. In the track you want to assign to a drum map, click the Output drop-down and select a drum map from the options in the menu that appears.

It is not necessary to split an instrument track to use a drum map. Use the inspector MIDI tab to access the MIDI output setting.

OK, that too. Thanks scook!  I did think about that after I posted.

That screenshot that scook posted might work, its probably the only thing I havnt yet tried.

Cakewalk support told me to try going into preferences > drum maps for a play around, but that still didnt work and now Im waiting for the next reply on what to try next.

Yup. it works!!!  Also by using "Preferences> Drum Map Manager" it will let you insert a preset drum map into the project from the "Map Setting: presets" dropdown box.  Choose "AD2 Standard" here.  If you do this, then that drum map will be made available from the Midi tab in the track inspector, otherwise you need to select "New Drum Map" from the inspector.  If you do it this way Choose "AD2 Standard" here.

Do you see "AD2 Standard" anywhere?
