Hi telecharge,

Thank you for the link.

Gotta' love scook as he most likely knows what's contained in the website and how to search and navigate through the site better than anyone.  The forum is truly fortunate to have him as a resource.

Will you please explain what AFAIK means.  I've seen it before but do not understand what it means.

Of course I expressed my opinions and realize my opinions may not match the direction the product manager wants the product to go.  I agree with your earlier comment how other software companies handle their introductory product.

I'm sorry to see Music Creator is going away.  I like the product and it has served my needs.  At the same time Home Studio is a worthy successor as the feature set almost exactly matches what I would have suggested for the next Music Creator.

I still would like to know if Home Studio receives monthly updates like the other Sonar products or will it receive updates if they are needed?

As far as I can tell with my version, the updates have been few and far between ( if any). My versions is from November and just checking CCC that seems  to be the latest version. I believe that was the first release.
I do see there is an update for local documentation so I'm downloading that and will see if it's HS specific.

I'm 100% fine with that as the reason I bought it was to not have to worry about updates and whatnot. I wanted a stable, solid version of Sonar to use for live performance  and so far it seems that my hunch was correct, and that's what I got. I've yet to experience any bugs or weirdness.

Cakewalk really needs to go over all it's articles and help files. Searching the Knowledge base is pointless and you have to use Google. That ends up dragging up very old files that without paying attention could be absolutely dead wrong information that someone might think is the gospel truth.

This forum is defiantly about the best way to learn and ask questions but that does not help Home Studio owners much as it's not exactly peer to peer because most of us are using Sonar PLAT. Sonar Plat has possibly 80% more to it and with that 80% more ways to do things.
I've seen a lot of HS owners getting wrong answers to question because of this. So we're a very small group of people using this version at this point. I think it will grow and with that more help will arrive.
A specific manual would be great but I can only imagine it's a very low priority.

In my opinion Sonars weakest link has always surrounded its documentation.
When the X series was released it published 1 manual with all the features in it (for all 3 versions. Pro / Studio / Essentials).
A good friend of mine was confused to no end. I had to tell him over and over that features were not included the base version of X1 essentials.

So it is no surprise to me that the platinum, home studio docs are mixed as well.
The best medicine is sitting down and learning basics and using the guide as a reference.

Doc of this magnitude (more than 500 pages) are there for look up references. not something you would read from front to back. Although hey if you do, more the power to ya.

+1
I remember reading (TF) manual front to back when I got SONAR 2.2 XL.
Learned quite a bit, but also got confused with all that could be done (even then), and from which I understood next to nothing

No, chuckebaby, that is not a rude question to ask.

I did not Google the abbreviation as many times abbreviations have multiple definitions.  I felt it was better to admit my lack of knowledge and ask the person that used the abbreviation so I could learn the meaning of the abbreviation as it was used in the response.

All I thank you for your responses.  I now know Home Studio does not receive monthly updates and the documentation is mixed in with the all inclusive Sonar online documentation.

Once again, thank you for your responses.
