This is the first and only project I did with SPlat after being away from music for too long. It was a joy to work with SPlat but I'm moving on to Studio One Pro and Notion 6. So far so good but SPlat will be missed.

Sounds like a little Rick Wakeman style noodling, mix works well here though perhaps little more presence on the kick might add some bottom end weight.

Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for the listen and the tip. The kick drum was something that I struggled with and was not totally happy with. I'm still getting my ears back in shape after being away from music for so long.

If you have a less than ideal monitoring environment (well-placed full-range speakers + acoustical treatments) gauging the low end can be next to impossible. Spectral analyzers such as Voxengo SPAN are your friend. They'll let you visualize your low frequencies, and if you import some of your favorite commercial recordings you can analyze them for comparison.

I'd suggest "Road Home" by Jordan Rudess as a reference. It's a homage to classic synth hits of the 70's (e.g. Tarkus) but being from this century it's mastered to modern standards. By that I don't mean squashed to death, but loud and full-range.

Your stuff is definitely in that vein. Love it.

Thanks for the listen and compliment! I am planning on upgrading my monitors and headphones soon. Currently working on a new batch of tunes so it will be a while before I'm back to mixing and mastering. I'll be sure to check out Voxengo SPAN when the time comes.
