  • Why is my Pan automation not working?

I have a mono track, and wrote some panning automation. The envelope shows in the track, but there is no panning to be had. Sonar Platinum, latest version.

Any suggestions?

UPDATE: The problem was that the session was in Envelope Offset mode (Mix Module).

 I did a quick check & it ONLY worked on the "Track's" Pan automation not in the "Clip's" Pan automation, since the track's "Interleave = Mono" , BUT I double checked & saw that the "Clip's" Pan automation worked as long as the track's "Interleave = Stereo"

Is the automation not doing anything (i.e. the pan slider is not moving), or do you not hear the effect of the panning?

Also make sure the track is outputting to a stereo bus.

PS... best automated pan image I've seen.

You probably checked this. Just in case, I have to ask. Did you maybe disengage the the automation read button on your track? Is the pan pot moving with the automation?

Hi. Thanks for the responses.

The automation read is enabled. No movement of the pan knob in Sonar. To get this automation ribbon I just clicked the 'W'rite automation button and started playback, then moved the pan knob via the mouse. Automation ribbon created. But no automation happening.

I couldn't find anything on changing the interleave setting. Where is that?

Thanks.

the easiest way for me is in the console view, as long as the strip is NOT a  'narrow strip' --  it's the button right above the [M] or  'mute'  button {or the same when I click the "I" shortcut key to open the 'Inspector' and then I highlight the "Track" view tab}

  if it's set to 'Mono' (the track itself, not the clip in it) will show only one circle with an arrowhead under it, and if in 'Stereo' it shows 2 squished circles (like a weird sideways eight) with an arrowhead under it, OR when I pause the cursor over any button is how I find out what things are (unless I finally got 'em stuck in my brain lol)  i.e. that's how I got the titles  "Interleave = Mono" &  "Interleave = Stereo"   just cause I still have the "Show Tooltips" checked in the  'Edit > Preferences > Customization > Display'
