  • Which Track INPUT from a Boss BR-800?

I just purchased SONAR Professional so I am not working through the learning curve of my first DAW

I am using a Boss BR-800 interface which appears to be properly set up in Devices in SONAR. When I choose to Insert a track for a guitar part and select the source, the choices are confusing. Does anyone know which one is correct? My BR-800 has a 1/4" Guitar/Bass input on the front which specifically designed for the rhythm guitar track I want to record.

My input choices are:
- Left BR-800 IN
- Right BR-800 IN
- Stereo BR-800 IN

Thanks
Derek

If the manual doesn't specifically say, you may just need to try the channel in stereo and see which side reacts.

You don't need to actually record. Just hit the red button on the track and play your guitar.
Look at the meter when you play and see which side is moving.

Once you know that, go back and choose the mono left or right, whichever side it was.

Plug in your guitar to the HiZ input and play it.  I believe the LCD on the BR will show which channel it is inputting on.  Also, there may be a selection in the BR's menu which allows you to set it.

Alternatively, you could pick one in sonar and see if you get an input signal in sonar.  If not, try the other one.

Thanks for the feedback. I'll check it out this weekend to see what happens. Still trying to figure this stuff out.
