Anyone used the drum replacer for the high hat?  Just wonder if you did how were the results?

I haven't myself but I imagine it can be done easy enough using the filter knob to zone in on certain frequency's omitted by the hi hats, the real problem comes with Drum replacer being able to decipher between an open hat and a closed hat.

Always been a problem. So much bleed from the snare in the same frequency area.

Usually the HH plays a straight pattern, so I just make a clip like the drummer played
and I copy it. I may go back later as the song develops and add any nice bits the
drummer may have played if they are significant to the feel of the song.

I haven't had any luck replacing HH tracks. If I need to I choose HH patterns from Addictive Drums.

If you have  LOTS of time on your hands convert the hi-hat to MIDI notes in drum replacer then open up the MIDI file in piano role or event viewer and change the closed hats to open hats notes manually. It can be done, and if you try it, report back next year on how it worked :)

The problem is known in other drum replacers, too. I think it's Drumagog that tries solve it with a bit of artificial intelligence. Don't know how successful it is.

Your point about snare bleed makes a lot of sense. Your correct. I hadn't really thought about that when I made my first comment. I figure it would be easy enough to zone in on hi hate frequency's but with the snare bleeding in im sure this makes it more difficult.

I use drum replacer a lot but hi hats is not something I have tried to accomplish. not because I haven't tried to but typically when your hi hat track needs to be replaced, well ... you might as well throw out the drum track
Unless its a sound issue.
