Hello.

Has anyone ever up-graded Kontakt recently?  I just finished the up-grade a few days ago.  The stand alone ICON functions well.  When I insert a soft-synth in my DAW (SONAR Platinum) the old version appears to be the working version.  Does anybody have some instructions on how to IMPORT, or re-direct to the new version?  I have been in the utilities, and VST manager, and don't seem to understand how to make this happen.

I have a new 3rd party soft-synth that appears to need the brand new Kontakt version to work correctly.

Hi. Did you try to do a vst scan? Or even a vst reset and re scan. Include failing and existing plugins if the former does not work.
All the best.

make sure you installed it into the same folder, it might be defaulting  to somewhere else

Ditto to the above - the standalone version and VST plugin are separate entities.

You have two versions of Kontakt installed. Do a search on "Kontakt" and you'll probably find Kontakt 5.dll in more than one place. Chances are the NI installer put the updated DLL where it thinks it should go, not where you last installed it.

Did you setup your VST path in NI's Native Access? If not, they have been installed somewhere like Program Files > Native Instruments > VST and Program Files x86 > .... Do not move the NI VST .dll files manually. You need to use a special download from NI to move them otherwise they no longer work. Or you can simply add their paths in Sonar's preferences > VST and Sonar will automatically scan and add them.

Different versions of the same Kontakt (5.6.5 & 5.6.6) can be installed and used on your system if they are installed in different folders. They may need to be renamed in Plugin Manager to tell them apart.

this is the bane of my existence haha. I have like 20 Kontakts. I managed to find the "newest" one and relabel it, but all the other ones, I can't just remove because some older projects use them, and it would be a pain to go through one by one finding projects that use them, loading a new Kontakt and loading that particular sound into the new instance and deleting the old one. So I just live with it.
