After reading how the A/D converter does not affect the Export Audio process, I find I need another avenue to explore. It seems that no matter what file I use, I cannot get a 16 bit, 44100 wave file out of the export feature. Even when I try to export at 24/96, I get some bit rate approx. 1/3rd that. A CD , with the 1411kbps file burned to it will not play, So I accept the reported bit rate as true. Up until now, I have only needed MP3. They do fine. But anything else seems to end up at a random bit rate other than the one I select.
I am using Wndows 8.1.whatever the last update was. The A/D is a MOTU 828x.
Any Ideas out there?

We digitaze tapes and vinyl for thousends of customers and we export more as 100.000 files per year on several computers. The most is 44 / 16 for CDs. I can definitely say that this is perfect working.
You can also export audio without any audiointerface. So this should not be up to your interface.
It is working when you click all options (but declick 64-bit-Engine) and choose Bit Depth: 16   Sampling Rate 44100   and Dithering "triangular".
 
 

Thambrecht, I read this reply in another forum question.this makes me think I may have corrupted software. I am contemplating a complete removal and reinstall, Still holding out for a possible explanation or possible solution for this. But thanks for confirming the D/A is not the issue.

Caa2, If you bounce your mix down in 96/24 then, for a CD, you have to export the file at 44.100/16bit.  This is the standard criteria for a CD. My older versions of Sonar allowed this selection and exported the files just fine. However; Sonar Platinum is not following the required selections I make during the Export process. You have to select the bit rate along with sampling rate. You will find this in the export pop up window.
