Hi All,
Sometimes when using my MIDI keyboard, one of two things will happen. Sometimes the signal seems to just drop. After 5 or 10 seconds, it come back. OR Sometimes a note will stick. I have to reset MIDI and restart the audio processor to fix it.  Any ideas as to what's going on?

Tom... a few questions. 

What are the specs on the computer, it's sound card, the OS and what version of MC are you using? 

I have a pretty decent and functional DAW here and on occasion I get the notes that hang and I have to stop the audio engine. It restarts automatically so no worries there..... you do need to know where the "panic button kill switch" is located on the DAW's GUI. 

Dropped notes are often indicative of a sub-standard sound card, usually a factory card running MME drivers. You can try to solve it by increasing the buffers for midi and audio in the settings. Often that will fix it. If not, a better interface is usually needed when the buffer adjustment fails to solve the issue.

OK... yeah, the interface should be able to deal with it just fine on ASIO.... so up the buffers and see what happens. 

Is it possible that you are just overdriving your system sound level until it causes an audio dropout?  You may want to consider turning the volume down on your output bus (by 12db or more) to see if it helps.

PREFERENCES>MIDI>PLAYBACK AND RECORDING>PREPARE USING XXX MSEC BUFFERS

the default is 250.  try increasing to 500 or 1000.
