After just over a year, I thought it might help to check the status of this unit in SONAR.
 
Mine works fine for transport and faders, and if that's all it ever did, I'm happy with that.  Let's just check where we are, and please correct me if any of this is wrong:
 
1. The latest firmware is version 1.15, which has not been updated since March 2016.
 
2. The orange neon display of hours minutes and seconds is of no practical use in SONAR.
 
3. There is nothing from Behringer that gives instructions about setting this unit up in SONAR; we have discovered that ourselves.
 
4. While executing a smooth automation volume curve, the faders move in small able-to-be-heard jerky motions.
 
5. There is a template PDF that can be printed that gives the SONAR labels for the buttons.  Has that been created for distribution?
 
Any mistakes?  What else?
 
 

I can't hear the motorized faders move in my X-Touch.  That was one plus that I immediately noticed when I got it.  I had been using a Behringer BCF2000 and the motorized faders are noisy in those units.  My main use of the X-Touch (which I could have done with the BCF2000) is the faders.  Much easier to control levels or set automation levels with the faders.  If I could have found a unit only with motorized faders I would have bought that, but none that I know of.

How is the transport organized?
With the 1884 I can move between Markers, 1 measure at a time, to beginning or end.
I pretty much "navigate" the project from the board.
The only time I "hear" the 1884 is when I open SONAR and all the faders "jump" to minimum; there's a "click".
I'll be pretty sad when I give her up...

Tom, I think you should be able to see the organization of the transport functions in a good image of one.  I use the marker forward and marker back functions all the time. 
 
The click caused by all the faders of the FW-1884 minimizing at once is more like a thud on the X-Touch.
 

There has to be something wrong with your X-Touch.  Mine is nearly "dead quiet" when I turn it on and the faders go to zero.  There is NO sound when my motorized faders move.  I just turned mine on to verify how it works.

Is Fireberd telling us that Behringer has some QC issues?
Hasn't that been the "rub" all along with all things Behringer?
Its "hit and miss"?

"Later" Behringer seems to be much better than the early stuff.  I wouldn't give you 10 cents for the early and obvious clone copy stuff.  But, the later stuff seems to be much improved. 
Those that "wouldn't be caught dead with Behringer" still think of it as junk, just as those that consider Peavey the same way.  I remember early 70's when I was an amp tech in Nashville (I had the Ampeg factory repair center).  No one wanted Peavey, but times have changed and Peavey is now one of the main companies.
 
I have three Behringer products and all have been solid.
X-Touch (replaced a BCF-2000 that was clunky as riojazz reports his X-touch, but worked)

I'm loving the X-Touch. I followed someone else's lead and printed up some labels on photo paper. Nothing too fancy, cut them out with an exacto and put 'em on with a tiny bit of adhesive.
