I've been following the development of Azslow's tool with interest - it certainly seems like an amazing achievement. However I decided it wasn't yet at the stage where it would successfully transfer enough of my projects over, particularly the effect automation and suchlike. So I decided to do it manually.
And while the thought terrified me before, I've come to be thankful that there wasn't a tool to do it for me automatically because in building these projects from scratch I have in the process gotten up to speed in Reaper to the point where I can do pretty much everything I was doing in Sonar (and doing it with much less hassle and frustration than in Sonar to boot!). I think I got less than halfway through Gioia's "WATCH THESE FIRST!" playlist on YouTube before I felt confident enough to roll my sleeves up. Along the way I've learned and discovered a load of stuff. But this is how I always learn things - a combination of formal tuition and blind experimentation. The one compliments the other.
