After working on some demo tracks tonight, when I was going to send them to my drummer for an opinion I bounced it down to .mp3 as normal then email it through gmail. I downloaded the mp3 to my phone to listen to and noticed the song was faster and pitched slightly higher maybe by about 1/2 step. All of my projects are at 48k because I also use my Fractal Audio Axe FX. I tried to change the sample rate to 44.1 and bounce again, no luck. I tried sending the email to my wife's phone, same result, I sent another track to my phone bounced down a few months back, it played just fine, which tells me it's not some sort of weird Google compression. I also uploaded the track in question to my Google drive, still faster and pitched up. When I play The mo3 on my pc it's right. The only thing that's different between now and when I bounced down the track that is playing right is I updated cakewalk platinum to the latest version today. Any ideas on what's going on?

You didn't mention which MP3 converter are you using, the one purchased through the store ?
If so....
As a test: I would try to export the said project as a wave file (16 bit 44.1 HZ).
Then import that WAV in to a new project and listen to it, if it is fine, then export that WAV mix using the MP3 conversion.

Sometimes exporting higher sample rates directly to MP3 doesn't always work properly.

Your bounced tracks should route it to the interface, not to the master bus.

I don't think this is your problem.

Try restarting your computer and without browsing the web, export it again.

I'm wondering if there was sample rate confusion between apps. That sort off thing can cause confusion.

The thing is, if you play back 48 at 44.1 should pitch reduce not increase? Shouldn't speed slow not increase?

Any chance that the opposite was happening?

like chuck said, export it as a wav first, and check that, then you'll know if it's the export or the conversion to mp3 causing the trouble (fwiw, i always do it like that, and finally mp3 encode using LAME with the razorlame gui)

So I did a little trial and error this morning. This is what I found... apparently whether I export in .mp3 or .wav makes no difference the file still plays slightly faster and almost exactly 1/2 up in pitch. And I thought last night it only happened when I emailed or uploaded to Google drive but it's also like that on my pc through media player.

So out of curiosity I exported 2 projects recorded prior to the update and they are as they should be, correct tempo and pitch.
Something strange is definitely afoot in my land of cakewalk.

Thank you guys for any help you have and can offer.

have you tried exporting the dodgy project immediately after a clean reboot? ie, without opening a browser or anything, just sonar

otherwise, you'll need to try and identify any differences between the dodgy project and the ones that are ok

good luck!

I have tried that... I will again when I get home. My mind keeps going back to the idea that it's something to do with the update as it's doing it since and every project initiated prior to is fine.
