I've re-booted and retired in a couple of songs...
 
Create Sonitus DDL on Aux
Create send from a track
Create ddl send automation envelope on the track
Create nodes and adjust envelope
play track
 
Envelope ignored?

Just thinking. I need to go back and see if the read automation button is only half-pressed? That might be the culprit.
 
I still don't remember what the half-read status is for and why it seems to be there so often? Was that something related to recording/playback stuff?
 
My poor failing memory... ;-)
 

see if its a possible focus issue. I believe someone else mentioned if you move focus away from a bus (possibly an AUX track), automation will no longer work correctly.

It turns out as I suspected. The Read Automation Button was in a half-read status...
 
It's working fine...
