I did the Sonar 01.2017 updates yesterday and all seems OK apart from Sonivox Big Bang Cinematic Percussion which crashes a lot.
Can anyone else who has BBCP confirm that there is a problem? I have submitted a few crash dumps to Cakewalk.

Thanks

Hi. Did you restart your pc after installing BBCP? Mine crashed the first time, but haven't done so after a reboot.
All the best.

I can that I also confirm that I experienced crashes with Sonivox Big Bang Cinematic Percussion (file version 25.02) (and a few other Sonnivox plugins) and Sonar Platinum.

In my situation, My work around was to use the purchased version of Jbridge 1.75 instead of Bitbridge.

As a test, I temporarily changed the VST configuration for Big Bang Cinematic back to Bitbridge. I loaded the patch Conga Ensembles and played some keys.  I was able to make Sonar crash straight away (within a few seconds).

I changed the VST configuration for Big Bang Cinematic back to Jbridge 1.75, Loaded Big Bang Cinematic with the patch Conga Ensembles.  I played a few keys on the KB controller to trigger the conga sounds and Sonar would not crash.

So maybe the solution is to use the purchased version of Jbridge 1.75 instead of Bitbridge.

Bridging (as far as I know) is only for 32 bit plugins, in a 64 bit DAW.
I have used SONIVOX synths a bit lately, and haven't had any crashes other than the one mentioned in my first post.

I was under that impression too.... and it puzzled me as to why this prevents crashing in my case. I am wondering if Jbridge does other funky stuff as well as than bridging 32bit to 64bit or vice versa.

Whatever it is, it definitely prevents Sonnivox from crashing Sonar on my system (which was happening before the January update).  Who knows, maybe it does something to the timing....?

Thanks guys,

I am using the x64 version of the plugins in Win 7 x64 with SPlat x64.
I am not using any bridge software in this case (although I have the full version of Jbridge installed for BIAB).
The strange thing is that I have just tried Big Bang Percussion again (both stereo and 16 out) and couldn't get it to crash??!! It  crashed a lot yesterday even after a couple of reboots.

TBH I still have a whole load of Sonivox stuff to install from their Premier collection which I picked up in the Christmas sales so I am keeping my fingers crossed that they don't also give problems.

The only other oddity after installing SPlat 01.2017 is that the program icon has disappeared (it has reverted to a plain icon) and I cannot reset it. From the small amount of research that I have done so far it looks like I will have to rebuild the icon cache.

Thanks again for your replies,
ZT

Well, that was fun. I inserted Big Bang into an existing project, played no more than 5 notes...and crashola. Swell.

Looks like a few of us are having this issue.  I have dropped a support request to Sonivox to see if they have a better solution than using Jbridge.  I Just hope they don't say "Contact Cakewalk support"

Good idea promidi. Maybe a few of us should email them as maybe more likely to get a response.

It's a confirmed bug in the plugin. It's not Splat.  It crashes other DAWs, even crashes on Macs.

This workaround works for me ...

Press the "Learn" button before playing any notes.   Even saving the project immediately after inserting BBCP, before playing anything, seems to work for me.
