  • Is there any new way to delete files from my "recent song list" ?

I have "saved as" multiple times, but would actually like to remove older versions of mixes once I've updated them to the current date without having to wait for my list to go through the 15 or so different songs on the recent songs I'm working on. That way I can keep my current album Intact with no old versions or
Templates on my "recent files".

I know the computer saves the last version anyway, but I can't seem to find a simple way to delete files from my "recents". I'm not trying to sound redundant, but it would make my work easier to have a simple way to remove old versions from my current files. Any Help????

Hi. Are you talking about the Start Screen, or the file menu?
There is no way that I know of that can erase recent songs either way. As a workaround (if using Start Screen), you can pin the latest version(s) of the projects you are working on, they will be on top.
Others may know better.
All the best.

If you're referring to the list of Recent files that show in the Windows Task Bar for a given application, you can right click on an entry in the recent files list and select "Remove from this list" to remove it from the list.

If you're talking about...within SONAR...then I don't know.

Many applications store this info in the Windows Registry.

Try deleting the relevant shortcuts from the Windows "Recent" folder.

This information is stored in the registry in the following key (If you're using Platinum):  I believe that you replace "Platinum" with "professional" or "Artist" for the respective versions of Sonar.

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Cakewalk Music Software\SONAR\Platinum\Recent File List

Remember of you do delete the unwanted references, don't forget to rename the keys to reflect their positions in the list.

make a batch file with this line and run it whenever you want to clear it out:

REG DELETE "HKCU\Software\Cakewalk Music Software\SONAR\Platinum\Recent File List" /f

The solution for the Sonar start screen is simple: just move the unwanted project files to a backup SUB dir and they will be gone from the start screen.

Once that is done you could also try opening them from File menu. Since Sonar does not find the files it will throw a msg box and afterwards remove that entry from the recent files list.

I know just what you mean jbirdnbud and thanks for asking this question. I appreciate zargg's advice, but how would one do this in Sonar? It seems odd to me that there isn't a way. But, I have not ever found a way yet although I don't spend much time trying to figure out how to do this. I usually just keep bringing up the same tune every-so-often to ensure the songs stay in the right order. Hopefully one of the wise ones on here will know a better way.
