  • Writing Vol. Automation over existing ... jumps back to previous when fader is not moving?

Hi there ( 2017.01 )
Here's something I just noticed and haven't encountered before.
I have an audio track with an existing envelope that has volume automation (lime green envelope) written to it at the end of the track. Everything before that is at +5.4 dB.
I began trying to write over a section in the middle of the song and whenever I'm not moving the fader (on me keyboard) the envelope jumps back to +5.4 dB, so I've got a bunch of glitchy jumps all over the place.

I was just doing the same type of thing in an other project using the same exact setup which is a fader on my keyboard midi learned to the vol. control on the track.
No problems there overwriting existing automation in that it was continuous, remembering where the last node change was made during my write and not jumping back to what was there in a previous pass.

Is there something I'm missing here like a button that might say "Write Continuous Automation" in the settings somewhere?

Thanks!

Change the automation write mode to 'Overwrite'.

Thank you! I never knew there were modes for automation.

There are 3 in Sonar.
Overwrite, Latch and Touch.

I can't imagine why... it's only about half way through the 2200-page Ref. Guide.

Glad to help.
