They did say, I think in the CakeTV video, that initially during the Alpha test phase, it will only support interfaces that are Core Audio compatible. But that's about all the information to date, I think.

Is this is the video that you are referring to ?,

They never mentioned what different versions of the Mac operating systems SONAR OSX Alpha for Mac will be compatible with ...
In Windows I run Win 10 64 bit . On Mac I'm running about what the equivalent of what Win 7 would be ...
The interface I mentioned before is core audio only .

That means you're quite a few revisions back on OSX. I have two boot partitions on my iMac one with OSX 10.8.5 and OSX 10.9.5. I might be interested in the new Sonar IF I could open my old Sonar 8 Producer projects. That's where I jumped from Sonar on Windows to PT on a Mac and then Digital Performer on the same machine.

Current OSX is ElCrapitan (OSX 10.11.x)

Well I had to pay the $199 because I didn't upgrade in January. But what surprised me was that I was up till 2:00 AM last night downloading and installing stuff. I thought I was fairly current, but I got soooo much stuff last night it's ridiculous. So I already have received a ton of updates that make my Sonar Platinum a monster program !!! It's going to take me a week just to get to know everything that's there. I looked around a little last night and was very much impressed with what I saw. I'm already getting my bang for the buck...

Yes , Lion on an i Mac & SnowLepard on a MacBook ...hhmmm , I'm a little behind the times huh?
I may be S.O.L. for SONAR OSX Alpha with those specs ...Oh well, if that's the case ..it will not change a thing .
I will still run SONAR in Win 10 and run all the other cool stuff I have on the Macs ...
thanks ....

I don't use Mac unless I have to.

- I see Sonar for Mac as a big opportunity if PC & Mac projects are 100 % compatible - 99,99 % will not cut it, and the user has nothing to do, can simply send the project per email or put it on a server, and s/he doesn't have to care if the receiver has a Mac or a PC. This would definitely make Sonar more of a ProTools challenger.
- I would hope a Sonar licence would be valid for both Mac and Windows.
- On the other hand, there is really no way this won't slow development on Windows, it will simply take more developer resources from Cakewalk, even if 80 % of the code is cross platform.

I have been super happy with my one year subscription to Sonar Platinum, which just ended mid may. I had my doubts, but in my opinion the suscription was well worth it.

Now I must say I have my doubts about the for life sub, since its almost 50 % more expensive than the one year sub I paid, and if I understand correctly only Sonar core will be updated.

Pricing aside:

This is what I have been wondering and find no clarity:

So, I buy the life-time Sonar updates: what do I get updates for? I assume it is for the core program, and the plugins, and instruments, included when installed. Yes?

I also assume this will mean I "own" the program, in that it will never revert to trial mode.

I then need to buy a membership to get the new stuff included with the monthly releases. Yes?

This makes sense to me.

If you have lifetime updates, you'll get everything SONAR Platinum has today and all future rolling updates. You don't need any further membership, you'll be all set.

Hi
I think its a shame that we have to pay for lifetime updates ,,those of  us who have been with platinum since the start. when those just buying platinum for the first time will set for life ,,no renewal cost like i have and you to have paid since platinum started ..besides companies like fractal audio do this kind of thing all the time for FREE. give me  a break
