Hi Guys:
I've been using a Roland Quad-Capture, but it's crashing SONAR like crazy.  Time has come for it to go.  I've been looking at an Audient iD14 as a replacement.  I welcome your thoughts pro, con, or otherwise.

know what your are talking about. used to be on Roland interfaces and driver stability was not fully satisfactory (it just did not like Kontakt) - yet, I can't say it was crashing like crazy ... if that is the case you might want to dig deeper before investing as another consumer interface might just behave similar in your environment
 
consider stepping up by looking at MOTU or RME. it's probably 3x times the investment to go for a babyface but that will last you a long time without any headaches ...

I've got an iD22, and it's been absolutely rock solid with Sonar Platinum. Sound quality was a lot clearer than my M-Audio Delta 1010. I would say go for it!

Do you find that all MOTU is good stuff?  I was also taking a look at the MOTU Audio Express.  I would appreciate any thoughts on that.

Thought about what you said, so I pulled the trigger on the Baby Face.  Thanks for the advice!!

good choice for sure. I was debating RME vs MOTU myself a few months ago but have different IO needs than you, hence I went with MOTU AVB ...

Since you have joined the RME club, be sure to install DigiCheck as well. You will find it on the RME-audio.de downloads page. It is awesome software that comes with your device. I don't usually run sonar without running at least one window of DigiCheck and sometimes I run a heap of them.

If you are doing something live and mixing in the RME TotalMix software, you can make the recording with DigiCheck and never launch sonar until after the gig. Works like a charm. You can even record synths you play in sonar using the loopback feature.

DigiCheck is really made for live stuff. It doesn't 'dropout' ever. It just keeps going. You will never look up half way through a gig a see it isn't recording, unless you didn't ever start it. ;-)
