Greetings from sf.
I went on line looked around..did not install and shut down.
Afraid if it.
Been using sonar since 2006.
This looks like a public thing.
International from Singapore.
I don't know man.
I defiantly do not want my work environment on the internet.
From Boston to Singapore.
That's kind of a far way to go to work for the Boston crew.
I'm going to need mire time to decide.
Check the small print carefully.

With some trepidation, I downloaded and installed it over my latest version of Sonar Platinum and it seems to be working fine. What a relief that Sonar (Cakewalk) has found a new home! Now I just need to figure out how I can use Bandlab. I listened to some pieces that people had done on Bandlab and I was very impressed (maybe even a little jealous). Maybe this will start a new era in my musical development.

I'm not sure what your concern is exactly. We had the Command console with Sonar and now we have a similar thing with BandLab assistant. Others have cross checked it for any kind of virus or spyware and it's clean. You can turn off BandLab assistant after you download CbB.

After using it now for about a total of 16 hours I'll say this-- no more random crashes. And I'm purposly NOT saving all the time which seemed to be the fix for SPlat crashing.

So to anybody sitting on the fence- Jump over, it's an update and they seemed to have made this version more compatable with W10.

The only thing to be aware of is you need to do a few things like import your track templates and mess with the Plug in scanner. Otherwise it's working better than Splat for me. I probably will remove the Splat shortcut and forget about it.

I actually didn't have to do anything with the plugin manager. In fact, it went one better than what I had in my Splat install.

I didn't realise but I had separate paths for, for instance VST/FXpansion/BFD2 and VST/FXpansion/BFD3

In the new version this has been rationalised to just VST/FXpansion.

There were a couple of other anomalies as well which the BLA managed to sort out.
No paths were omitted from my Splat install when building the new paths.

I'm a Sonar Pro owner and upgraded to CbB. The new core update added a few Pro channel modules and everything else acted basically the same as my Pro version. Interestingly, I was able to add the new modules and a few edits and saved the CbB project. I went back and was able to open the CbB project into Sonar Pro and only had a missing plugs dialogue for the Pro channel modules . So this seems to be a backwards / forwards compatible update. Hoping that a future update will bring this up to a full featured Splat compatible install.

Download and Installation: Some anti-virus software might better be switched off while installing, then it's smooth.
First launch: No VST neither instruments nor fx. Closed it and launched again: The plugin routine started and worked heavily.
Some of the VSTs were found, but in case of instruments the sound libraries didn't come up. I'll have to find out where they are. That's strange, because all the VSTs are in the same VST folder that used to be effective for the "old" Sonar.
This applies only for some "minor" VSTIs, however, in some of my projects they play an important role, but are silent now. Will keep you up to date.
I like the dark surface actually, cause you see the clips and automation lanes better. They almost glow. (Don't need a lava lamp then  )
After the first shock, I had turned to ProTools, learned a lot which is also useful with Sonar. So I think I will keep a "parallel production line", some things might work better here, some others there. And most of the plugins which I became aware of in PT also work as VST, so I can use them either way. I am very happy to have the choice since Cakewalk is back.

If you do not like the dark PRV, copy the TungstenTheme.fth from the SONAR 2017.10 program folder into C:\Cakewalk Content\Cakewalk Themes changing the file extension to .sth. You may also change the name of the file if you wish. Then load the theme in Cakewalk Preferences.

Also check the VST paths in Preferences along with the rest of preferences. This ls a new product and you have to set it up like one.

Hello! Is it possible to share the theme TungstenTheme.fth from the SONAR 2017.10 ?
I would love to work on light colored piano roll.
Thanks in advance!
Best,
Dimi

I just cloned a 128gb to a 500gb ssh. I have splat as well as Console one and some Waves plugins. I opened some older projects with Cakewalk by BandLab and it just worked flawlessly! I wonder have there been any updates? How would we know?
