Now I can work in Melodyne for about 15 minutes before Sonar locks up.  What the heck is this?

How big of a clip are you working on in Melodyne?  Also do you have autosave and/or versioning enabled?

Melodyne is still the only thing that makes my Sonar a little unstable. I use it surgically and bounce stuff after editing. Unfortunately so, because I often wish I could leave more clips open for longer.

Yep, thats the way to go, short clips then bounce clips. It doesn't crash for me.

Konrad, just a thought - you have downloaded and installed the latest version from the Celemony website (it will be your personalised edition) ?

Cheers,
Jerry

Is this in X3 or the latest Platinum version? If it's the former, then I strongly suggest you move to the latter. If it's the latter then I would contact support.

I seem to recall from another post that you were still on X3, and all I can say is that I believe a lot of the issues you are having will go away. Platinum isn't perfect but I think you'll be much happier running that on windows 10 on a more current system

Hey, guys, thanks. I am still on X1 for some complicated reasons discussed in another thread, but I am planning to change that soon.

Good idea about refreshing Melodyne.

About clip size, I am doing one chorus at a time. There are 8 voices singing unison and I am editing them one at a time. So far I've done one voice and am crashing in the middle of the second, so there are only two instances of Melodyne. I like to do all the Melodyne before rendering in case I want to go back and randomize or pitch shift a few cents, but I can try freezing voice 1.

Konradh, of all the features and capabilities of Sonar, the integration with Melodyne is probably one that has changed the most between X1 and the latest Platinum.

The stability for me is night and day, and the integration within Platinum makes Melodyne seem more like a natural part of Sonar's workflow.

I completely understand why you may have reasons to stay as you are, but I hope you can test out the latest versions and realize the difference.

It's probably a good idea to put your woes within the context of X1 whenever posting a thread like this so that people can help without thinking about how things work today, which is vastly different under and above the hood.

FWIW, I never got on well with X1 and mostly stuck with 8.5 until Platinum came along.

I have found it to be stable recently, but when I was having problems, I found that if I disabled any effects on track whilst I was using Melodyne it helped.

Very well said. My sentiments exactly.
With the integration of Melodyne, it changed my work flow completely.
Cant say im a huge fan of Vocal synch (even though I use it) its a little unpredictable.
I love Drum replacer and Melodyne though.

Konradh, I would make sure you are completely up to date on all windows updates.
Melodyne (I believe) uses C++ /Vs libs in order to function, so if you are running a newer version of Melodyne make sure you have the updates.

1.  Melodyne says there is a newer version.  When I go to the website, it says to laucnh the installer from within the product.  I cannot find anywhere in Melodyne Assistance to perform an update or launch an installer. Ideas?
2. Chuckebaby, Before I update Melodne, you are saying I need to make sure my Win 7 is updated.  Doesn't that happen automatically?  If not, how do I force it.

Thanks.
