1.  Melodyne says there is a newer version.  When I go to the website, it says to laucnh the installer from within the product.  I cannot find anywhere in Melodyne Assistance to perform an update or launch an installer. Ideas?

Thanks.

Log into your account (or create one) with Celemony and download your personalised installer. Whatever flavour of Melodyne you have is linked to your serial number. The installer you will download is the same for all versions, but will only install/update your registered version

Depending on which version you have (essential, editor, assistant, etc) be aware that the upgrade to any version of 4 negates your prior version. Definitely create a restore point prior to that installation, as it is the only way to back out cleanly.

Version 4 has features which make it resource intensive and I am not sure if they enabled the option to tailor how it is used (I passed on 4 since I often will open an entire track in Editor 2). The load time for that same stunt in Studio 4 took roughly 6 times longer.

If it is Essential 2 -> Essential 4, I am not sure if you will feel the need to back out of it, but create a restore point first.

OK, although it was not obvious how to at first, Melodyne support answer immediately (on the week-end!) and I update Melodyne Assistant to the current version.

In addition, per the automation message that popped up in Melodyne after the update, I increased the ASIO buffer to 1,024 samples, which is a little higher than the default I use after tracking.

I have been working for several hours without a crash so issue this may be solved.  Before the update and buffer change, I was lucky to get 10-15 minutes of work done.

Please see my questions on the post on bouncing Melodyne, please.

Thanks for working with me on this, guys.

Hey, guys, thanks. I am still on X1 for some complicated reasons discussed in another thread, but I am planning to change that soon.

Good idea about refreshing Melodyne.

About clip size, I am doing one chorus at a time. There are 8 voices singing unison and I am editing them one at a time. So far I've done one voice and am crashing in the middle of the second, so there are only two instances of Melodyne. I like to do all the Melodyne before rendering in case I want to go back and randomize or pitch shift a few cents, but I can try freezing voice 1.

Konradh, I would suggest cloning the track you're working on before using Melodyne, and then if you're not satisfied with your edit, you can go back to the original track.  However, I do recommend that you render each clip before opening another clip.  If you have clones of each track, then once you are happy with your edits, you can delete the clones to make room on your hard drive if you need it.
