Hi -

I just downloaded Artist and I thought it came with a bunch of instruments. But when I Insert>Soft Synths the only available ones are TTS-1, Dropzone, and Session Drummer 2. Furthermore, Dropzone doesn't work (says it isn't loaded properly), and I thought Artist came with Sess Drum 3, not 2 (?).

I purchased Artist as an upgrade for $49.99. I assume I was eligible for this because I previously owned SONAR HS 6. Maybe I bought the wrong version?

Any info you can give me is much appreciated!

Yes, you should have more instruments than that. How did you download it? If you didn't use Command Center, you might want to give that a try.

This is comparison of the different Sonar versions with features, instruments, FX, etc., but may not be 100% accurate.

Yes go back to CCC and you will see all the stuff you might not have updated as showing RED.

hey Telecharge I like that you had to say "It may not be accurate" ... only you and me know that's true! ha ha.

Yeah, I figured I'd better throw that in there just in case. Credit to scook for putting the wheels in motion to get it corrected.

We're seeing more and more posts from Home Studio users. Since there's no online documentation for SHS, it makes it difficult to point them to resources and figure out what applies to them and what doesn't.

The five versions of SONAR available today use the same documentation. This includes SONAR Home Studio. There are notations in the documentation when version specific features are encountered.

Artist does include Session Drummer. I am not sure how SONAR Artist is packaged. Expand the SONAR Artist item in the Command Center by clicking the arrow to the left of the SONAR Artist line, there may be multiple installers.

I guess that's right for the most part as I have seen instances where it says a certain feature is/isn't available for certain versions. But as an example where that doesn't hold up, take a look at Adding an instrument track to your project. They use DropZone in the tutorial which isn't included with Home Studio, and there's no mention of that.

Feel free to write up a ticket for any issue you find in the documentation.

Is it that you don't have a "plug-in layout" that is set up with all of them?  Try using the "plug-in manager" and be sure you are using a layout that contains all your soft synths and audio FX.  Create one if need be.

Thanks, everyone.

I downloaded Command Center and reloaded Artist. All the plugins are there now, including Session Drummer 3, which looks really cool. I tried everything out; the system crashed once when I ran SFZ but otherwise no problems. Maybe that was a one-time thing, or maybe I just won't open SFZ again since I don't know what it is anyway.

Some of Artist's interface looks similar to Home Studio 6 but seems there's a lot of new stuff to learn also. Oh well--it's good for the ol' brain plasticity as I approach as middle age.

Thanks again for the help, all. It's much appreciated.
