I have my iPad setup as an extra monitor which means portable touch screen for Sonar...Very handy.

This looks interesting. I have a piano that I record with, and it's quite a stretch to reach my mouse to work with Sonar. I have two monitors now, one HDMI one DVI. Can I have a third monitor via USB? And are you saying Sonar responds to the iPad touchscreen? One of the things I do quite a bit is CTRL-Z to erase/undo a take. 😀

rtpMidi drove me nuts at first. It was too finicky to set up. Once running AC7 was not bad.

V-Control and its associated software worked out of the box, so i tend to stick to that now, and use it to stop/start recording and playback mostly. I bought their first version but will not be upgrading to the second as i don't want to "rent" it.

Cheers,
J

Tenfoot,

what do you set up in Sonar to act as the control surface when you are using Lemur?  And what third-party virtual MIDI ports, such as loopMIDI or loopbe, are you using?  And do you have a link to download the Sonar template for Lemur?

Thanks!

Hey Bwbalint.

The Sonar template is here:
https://liine.net/en/community/user-library/view/342/
The download includes complete setup instructions.

You will also need the lemur editor/daemon installer for Windows which is here:
https://liine.net/en/downloads/lemur

The third party virtual ports that I use are loopbe30, which can be found here:
http://nerds.de/en/loopbe30.html

I recently switched to DAW Remote HD, too many midi drivers were being installed by V-Control Pro and caused issues with the ten midi limit.

Thanks!  I downloaded all that.  And Lemur Daemon sees all the midi ports, as does the iPhone app Lemur.  The only thing I don't see is the 'connect' button that the Mackie instructions say are above the 'rec' button on the Mackie page of the Lemur app.

Has it been moved, or am I just not seeing it.  Looking at the Mackie page in the Lemur editor doesn't seem to show either.  the Lemur editor syncs nicely with the iPhone app.

Thanks for your help.

I did find it.  Apparently the first Mackie Project was an earlier edition without the 'connect' button.  I then went to the link you supplied and downloaded that version.  This time when it loads on my phone from the editor, the 'connect' button shows up.  This version is a slightly different formatting than the previous.

Thanks.  I will be testing this out.

Glad you found it Bart. I actually use it on an android phone and tablet but I am sure it will be just as reliable on the iPhone.

Success!! I tried using Sonar's 'Mackie control' as the setup for Lemur, but it never connected.  I then used
  • Alexey Zhelezov's AZController and voila! it connected and works just like my MCU PRO.  And I am using LoopMIDI, which is free.  Now I will save everything and hope Sonar remembers it all.  I will probably edit the Lemur setup that I have, as there are a few things I really don't use.  Best of all I can now go back to my 'isolation room' and add new tracks, arm and record at will!  Thanks!

Haha- great news Bart! It is brilliant having a wireless remote for Sonar.
  • I haven't tried connecting to Lemur using Alexey's controller as Mackie Control worked fine for me, but I have no doubt it will work well. He is a clever dude:)
