Hello! I am having trouble with using the instruments as well as the staff view. 
I am a more geared towards classical composing, so I prefer to use the staff view to write notes and then have them played by the Cakewalk Sound Center. 
However, when I choose a synth to play it (I chose Brass>Trumpet>Trumpet), it plays every other note or just skips over playing some of the notes.
I tried using the Male Aah Choir voice to experiement, and the results were even worse; about 1 out of 4 notes were played.

How do I get it so that all the notes are played by any voice I choose?

What sound card or audio interface are you using?
This is a common problem when using software synthesizers with a stock sound card; the sound card cannot process fast enough to play all the notes.
You can try increasing the mixing latency.

I am not the most tech savvy person (aka I'm technology stupid), so I might need some help with some terms. Technical terms, if you will.

I'm not sure where my sound card is located, or what it is or if it's removable from my computer, so can you enlighten me a little bit on that?

Also, how do increase the mixing latency? (what does that mean?)

Press P on the computer keyboard. that will bring up MC 6's Preferences.
Whatever is listed as Recording or Playback Device is your sound card.
In the same file, there should be a Latency slider. Just slide that more to the 'Slow' side.
You can also change the Driver Mode there. It's probably set to MME/KS, but setting it to WDM might give you better performance.
 
 

Skipping notes is pretty common with some factory sound cards. Most likely if you do not know what the sound card is, you are using the factory card. 

As Greg said changing the driver and making the buffer size larger as well as adjusting the latency settings will sometimes solve the problem.

If that doesn't work (driver/buffers/latency) you can try downloading the free ASIO4ALL and use it. Some folks find that solves the problem.

The last, but most sure way to solve the issue is to purchase a 3rd party external USB audio/midi interface. Just about everyone here is currently using this method. It should run the native ASIO driver. problem solved. 

Skipped MIDI-notes are often due to small MIDI-buffers.
In "MIDI buffers: Prepare using xxx ms buffers" double the buffer size.

Occasionally, before I purchased a decent sound interface,  I experienced dropouts from using the TTS-1 softsynth.  I believe I was using multiple instruments and found that the default setting for voices wasn't enough resulting in dropped notes as well. Some soft synths like the TTS-1 have a number of voices selector and the solution was to increase the number of voices used. Probably not your problem yet, but if you are doing classical compositions with multiple instruments, this is something to be aware of as well.
