Hello, i am a young, new, and very frustrated member of the cakewalk music creator. I am used to using the interface of audacity, where I can zoom in very close and rearrange milliseconds of music. I'm using a MIDI USB keyboard and trying to use synth tracks, but am not finding the experience similar or pleasant at all. Is there any way to get rid of the timing/bar setup and make it so I can highlight/move around/copy and paste very specific things? I have two selections of music I want to play one after the other immediately, and I feel like I'm playing with magnets. They won't go together. I've looked at all the tutorials for copying and pasting but they don't seem to comprehend my pain.

Welcome to the forum.
Turn off the Snap-to grid.
Or set it to a smaller resolution.

I generally have my snap to shut off. That way I can place the timeline now marker anywhere I want.

When doing a punch in recording however, I do like to set the "snap to" to a specific resolution that works well. Especially if it's a punch on something like an acoustic guitar or a lead track.

By shutting it off and zooming in, you can get extremely "surgical" in your edits.
