When I was playing with Rapture Pro, at one point, I found that volumes of patches were substantially diminished. When I looked again at the Instrument Page the volume had been lowered. I'm guessing my mouse wheel inadvertently lowered the volume.

If you find volume diffs on Rapture Pro patches, you might verify that this level is set properly.

Cakewalk apparently are checking the volume issues. There are a lot of really really quiet samples.
There are also a number of libraries not working - check other threads.

Tonight I went through the Rapture Pro - "Pattern synth" library, which I picked at random. All sort of volume issues, and some of them didn't sound quite right. I checked the log sure enough there were errors...

e.g.
01:33:23 (!) [ \users\shared\cakewalk\rapture pro\multisamples\013 - pulse mk.wav ] ERROR: unable to load

01:33:23 (!) [ \users\shared\cakewalk\rapture pro\multisamples\132 - cubic 3.wav ] ERROR: unable to load

01:36:31 (!) [ d:\cakewalk content\rapture pro\rapture pro\multisamples\rapture\rapture scapes\denied cluster.wav ] ERROR: unable to load.

At this stage I'm going to cry (and I apologise).... This is not a great experience at all... I really had my hopes up for this synth. Cakewalk worked hard on it I'm sure but looking at this and all the other issues and essential features missing - it's like it is back to the old Roland days... The only upside is that they appear to be slowly getting better with Platinum - latest update is more or less great- but you just can't release modern soft synths in this state, the competition is far too intense out there. It looks like the Platinum lesson needs to be learned all over again for soft synth apps.

The other upside is that it's looking like we will get fixes - but this sort of stuff should have been tested before it went out the door - and surely people could have given similar criticisms before it came out... Wow I just found you can't even perform a search across libraries, each library is basically it's own separate island, there is no global function.

Sorry to be harsh. but I'm bordering on asking for a refund... Faith in what will happen later is what will swing it perhaps... The support feedback has been good from Cakewalk, the user experience is to be quite frank not great at all.

If you are into creating sounds from scratch e.g. from initialize program this could be a great synth right now for somebody.

Hey, Doc.

I don't own any non-Sonar synths. I'm mainly a recorder of other musicians. When I play, it's guitar.

That said, I do really enjoy playing with Rapture, so I am still hopeful that this all gets worked out.

Where is the log you found? I'd love to look there. If all the problems I've had with Rapture over the years turn out to be related to installation issues, I'll be very happy to get them worked out.

I was thinking of trying to call Prod Support. Once you jumped on the other thread, it seemed that Dan and others were very attentive. I'm hopeful that they will fix things up for us pretty soon.

Could you tell me how to review the log file? I'd like to see if I had install issues or if I'm having load issues. That sort of thing. I'd love to fix my problem without having to call Support.

Well this leads to another bug with log files if you don't use default file paths, but you can work around it, all you need is here:

Agreed... Out of all of it - this has been the best part of the experience so far...

I don't have a g: drive.

Yup I get the G drive thing with Gold Top Neck and various error messages with the default library supplied. Looks pretty similar. None of this appears to have been tested.

I'm not too worked up about it. I trust them to make it right. It's a little frustrating, but I'm still looking forward to getting the synth working properly.

Another one that finds the current volume diffs to be a PITA.

Maybe I expect too much, but I think everything should be normalized to at least similar if not equal levels

It's going to take an employee a good long time to go through and fix the missing sample files and normalize the levels for all the packs supplied. Which is probably why we got it this way in the first place...
