I create multi-track percussion parts in Sonar, as a .CWP.  When I'm ready to deploy, I save as MIDI format0, then copy the .MID file onto my Montage. I then play keys along with the MIDI percussion.
The problem is, I want to set the volume of the percussion track directly on the Montage. But no matter what volume I set that track on, when I push Play, the track reverts to the initial volume, as saved by Sonar.
 
 
Since these initial settings are not available in the Track Events, how can I save the .MID file in Sonar, without the initial track volume settings? 
 

Hi,
Please open event viewer for the particular MIDI track. You will find MIDI events with Volume attributes. Delete those lines.

A less direct way, if you have a lot of tracks, you can also use the Select by filter menu. Select all your tracks, then open the Edit > Select by filter. In the Dialog select only Control Number 7 (CC#7 Volume), and press OK. Now cut in your tracks.
To be sure, repeat the same command with the Control Number 11 (CC#11 expression).

Right-click the Volume control in the MIDI track in SONAR and choose "Disable Control". If that control isn't disabled, SONAR will write its value to the MIDI file. Parens around the value indicate it's disabled. Moving the control automatically enables it.

Thanks all for your responses, but from what I understand, the initial volume is not stored in each track, but somewhere in some header portion. Thus these initial volumes aren't visible in the the track event list. Am I wrong?

Volume is one of the many midi parameters for which a controller value exists. The event viewer is for viewing and editing all midi parameters not just notes. If there are no such values to delete they doesn't exist. No volume info stored in header.
I'm not too sure but it could be that if there is no value that it defaults to 100. Max volume =127. There is a difference between a value =0 and no value.
To test, why not open the midi file in sonar after your export.
