Some old plug-ins require SONAR run as administrator.

If you don't mind hacking the registry, granting Users full control over HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\rgc:audio software\DXi\Pentagon I will allow Pentagon to load without running SONAR as administrator. Your other old plug-ins may still require SONAR run as administrator.

I have no experience with the Sample Magic plug-in.

Otherwise Sample Magic AB Version 1 consistently crashes Sonar and a few old VST 32-bit Reverbs won't seeem to load into Bitbridge.

Almost there I guess.

Thanks guys!

Will look at the Bitbridge issue - I know it's a memory hog, Sample AB is a strange one - version 2 works fine, except that it can't find the reference tracks stored on my old machine of course. Version 1 accepted my Serial number but kept crashing ever since.

What do I need to add to the registry to make that work? Is there any way to get Sonar to run as admin straight from an associated file?

Using regedit

Any program may be set up to run as administrator by:
  • right-clicking on the program or shortcut,
  • open the Properties dialog from the context menu,
  • click on the Compatibility tag in the Properties dialog
  • enable "Run this program as an administrator"

OK great - admin lets me load Pentagon, I'll check in combo with regedit.

Can't get a noise out of NI B4 or Pentagon yet but I'll check that later...all other synths work fine :-)

If you are forced to run as administrator, there is no point in changing the registry for Pentagon.

...unless it avoids the nag screen about making changes to the system as an admin?
